We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Jacquie Marquis (#66) on 19th August.

Our choice of meal for the Tuesday Social Dinner on Tuesday, 20 August in the Clubhouse at 6:30pm is a choice of Pork Belly with plum sauce, mustard mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables OR Salmon Fillet with hollandaise sauce, asparagus and baby carrots. This will be followed with Apple Crumble with whipped cream and tea/coffee. R140pp.  Please book before 12-noon on Monday, 19 August. Bookings can be made with Sheila in the Bistro on Ext 200. Payment can be made on account, cash or credit card. You are very welcome to bring your own wine/refreshments.

-       Join us for Sugarbird Fynbos Gin Tasting sponsored by Evergreen and Daniel Perrins from Siris Vintners on Thursday, 22 August in the Bistro at 4pm. Please book with Reception on Ext 300 by Monday, 19 August before 12-noon as we have limited space available.

Please Note: John Blackman’s memorial service will be taking place in the clubhouse at 3pm on Wednesday, 21 August. There will be a number of friends and family attending the memorial to pay their respects. We respectfully request that you are patient when entering and exiting the village in the afternoon.

Forthcoming events:
- Arbor Week – Evergreen Bergvliet will be celebrating this international day by planting a Podocarpus falcatus (Yellowood) on Wednesday, 4 September at 4pm. Please join us for a drink in the Bistro afterwards.
- Harry Curtis & Friends Concert will be held in the Clubhouse on Friday, 6 September at 7pm. R60pp. Please book and pay at reception. Please note that NO food/snacks will be served. Please ensure that you eat before arriving for the show which starts promptly at 7pm. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments. For more information please contact please Jacky Orton on Ext 131. It promises to be a wonderful evening in good company.
-   A presentation on the benefits of Aloe Gel for mature skin will be held in the Clubhouse on Monday, 26 August at 10am. It will be hosted by Barbara from Totally Wild. Totally Wild is a Cape Town based company that specialise in a small range of medicinal type of Aloe juice and organic Aloe gel for the skin. Barbara will be selling Organic Aloe Gel at a special price of R80 per tube.
-   Bergvliet Pub Night to be held on Friday, 30 August at 6pm. Meet in the clubhouse for our popular social event. Light snacks will be served. Please book at reception for catering purposes or to buy a book of tickets for R100.
-  Masters of the Guitar -  Internationally acclaimed virtuoso nylon string player, Dimmitrios Giannakis, returning from performing at the prestigious San Remo Guitar Festival in Italy, brings to the stage his lifelong passion for nylon string master pieces across many genres. Giannakis will be teaming up with well know Jazz guitarist, Lylle Ferreira for one night only at the Artscape Theatre on Sunday, 25 August! It sounds like a fantastic event. Unreserved tickets available at R135.00. Enquiries at reception.

Village Housekeeping
- FTTH – The long awaiting fibre installation is almost complete. Gibela have installed and repaired all outstanding infrastructural problems in the village. Next week, Frogfoot will be installing the ONT’s required by FTTH service providers from Monday, 19 August from 9am. Reception will set up appointments with you to enable technicians to complete this part on the contract.
- Please note that the red vibracrete wall at the exit to the basement parking (Unit 65) will be removed on Monday, 19 August.

Don’t forget to buy your Monthly raffle tickets which are available at reception. The monthly draw will be held at the Social Dinner on Tuesday, 27 August.
