What’s happening next week: 14/05/2018 – 20/05/2018

We would like to wish Ursula Keanly (Unit 11) a very Happy Birthday for 19th May.

Our Social Dinner on Tuesday, 15 May is at 6:30pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Cottage Pie with an onion gravy served with beetroot salad OR Chicken Schnitzel with a mushroom sauce served with parsley potatoes both served with seasonal vegetables. This will be followed by Lemon Meringue Pie and coffee/tea. We kindly request that you book at reception or call Ext 300. Booking and payment is required by no later than 12pm on Monday, 14 May. Unfortunately, no late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.

Our Royal Sunday Lunch Affair will take place on Sunday, 20 May at 12h30. Pea soup and croutons will be served as a starter, rare roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes & vegetables followed by bread & butter pudding. Cost: R165 per person. Please book with Andréa by Thursday, 17 May.

Please note there will be tree maintenance on the oak trees down the main road of the village on Thursday, 17 May and Friday, 18 May. They will commence work at 9am. Just to remind you that there will be large trucks parked in the road and we ask that you take when driving. Chipping of branches and debris will be done off-site.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to improve our village.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   A “living will” presentation will take place on Wednesday, 23 May at 2.30pm Unlike a will, or “last will and testament,” which stipulates certain directives after your death, a living will relates to your end-of-life wishes while you are still alive. Join us for  a questions & answers presentation to discuss this topic with a legal specialist.
  *   Our “Fairy Tales” theme dinner will be held on Friday, 25 May. Please book early as it promises to be well attended.
  *   Of Loss & love: Journeying with a loved one living with dementia.
When a person is diagnosed with dementia, they and their loved ones set off on a long journey of loss. But this this does not have to be the whole story. In this presentation, Alice Ashwell will share some of the turning points and blessings she experienced during her mother’s fifteen-year dementia journey. She hopes that by sharing a different perspective on dementia, we may be able to overcome the stigma associated with this condition, learn to connect more effectively with our loved ones, and remain steadfast in our love and care. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, 30 May at 2.30pm in the clubhouse. Please call Andréa on Ext 300 for seating purposes.

Project Development update:

  *   We would like to inform residents that the foundation excavations have been completed in Barn Road and concrete work to the foundations will commence next week from Monday, 14 May.
  *   The demolition work on the Starke Road property is still in progress and should be completed by the end of next week.
  *   There will be tree felling in the Starke Road property on Monday, 14 May
