What’s happening next week 09/01/2017 – 15/01/2017

I would like to wish all our residents compliments of the season and a wonderful 2017 filled with opportunity and happiness.

Our Social Dinner will take place on Tuesday, 10 January at 6:30pm for 7:00pm in the Clubhouse. We are serving a choice of Crumbed pork steak with apple sauce OR Hake and haddock pie served with sauté potatoes and seasonal vegetables. This will be followed by a Fruit salad and cream.  We kindly request that you book and pay Andréa on Ext 300 by no later than 12pm on Monday, 09 January 2017. Unfortunately no late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.  As we have had a number of incidents where complaints have been made about the wrong meal being served, I have suggested that when you pay for your meal at reception, you sign off on your order. In this way we can be sure to give the correct instructions to Rambling Rose and thereby ensure that everyone is happy with their meal choice.

Due to requests by our residents, we have introduced a monthly Sunday Lunch which will take place on the third Sunday of every month in the Clubhouse. Our first lunch on Sunday, 15 January at 12:30pm for 1:00pm and will include a Salmon Roulade, Roast Lamb & Potatoes with seasonal vegetable followed by Berry dessert and tea/coffee. Cost is R135.00 per person. In order to ensure we can prepare this offering we kindly request that you book and pay Andréa at reception on Ext 300 by no later than Friday, 13 January. Yvonne Whitford will host the Sunday lunches and can be contacted on Ext 114, if you require any additional information.

Our new Mindful Colour-In Club will start on Friday, 13 January at 10:00am. All colouring pencils, crayons and drawing sheets will be provided but if you have your own, please bring them. We now know that taking a moment to pause and be mindful can dramatically improve our well-being, making us feel calmer, less stressed and more at peace with our emotions. The act of colouring in – carefully and attentively filling a page with colour, the feel of the pencil in your hand as you meditate on the beauty of the whole illustration – is particularly suited to mindful meditation.  Join us for the hour and feel the benefit.

TechTalk Coffee Break – An Q & A will be held in the clubhouse on Monday, 16 January at 10:30am – 11:30am. Kyle Knight will answer any questions you may have on “tech stuff”.

Forthcoming Events:

-       Ageless Grace takes place every Thursday morning at 10:00am – come and try this amazing movement class yourself and see how it works.

-       The popular Music Evenings will resume on Wednesday, 18 January at 7:00pm. The January programme features Daniel Barenboim performing Frederic Chopin at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall in February 2010. Please let Herman Poelmann (Ext 115) know that you wish to attend for seating and catering (light snacks) will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments.

-       The transformative power of classical music - Join us in the Clubhouse on Wednesday, 25 January at 11h00 and enjoy this video presentation. Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it —and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections. Since 1979, Zander has been the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic. He is known around the world as both a guest conductor and a speaker on leadership --and he's been known to do both in a single performance. He uses music to help people open their minds and create joyful harmonies that bring out the best in themselves and their colleagues.

-       Our Theme Dinner – Japan – will be held on Friday, 27 January. A wonderful evening is planned. We kindly request that you book and pay Andréa on Ext 300 by no later than 12pm on Monday, 23 January 2017.

-       The Men’s Breakfast will resume next month and will be held on Thursday, 9 February at 09h00. We kindly request that you book and pay Andréa on Ext 300 by no later than 12pm on Monday, 6 February 2017.

-       Lucky Draw - R50 buys you three raffle tickets for the monthly lucky draw to be held on Tuesday, 31 January!

I sent everyone notice of our special exemption given to the Village residents from the City of Cape Town which allows you to use a hose pipe to water your gardens. Please can you ensure that you have the self-closing attachment to your garden hoses. If you use a gardener, please ensure that they are using the attachment as well.
