What’s happening next week 24/04/2017 – 30/04/2017

We would like to wish the following residents a Happy Birthday: 27th April - Willy Poelmann (Unit 15 and Jenny Barclay (Unit 65); 28th April - Toetie Van Reenen (Unit 04).

Our Social Dinner will take place on Tuesday, 25 April at 6:30pm for 7:00pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Chicken, leek & mushroom pie OR Kassler chop & apricot glaze served with new potatoes and honey-roasted vegetables. This will be followed by Fresh fruit salad & ice-cream. We kindly request that you book and pay Andréa on Ext 300 by no later than 12pm on Monday, 24 April 2017. Unfortunately, no late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.  Please make every effort to pay and sign for your meal by Tuesday morning.

Movie Night – SULLY will take place on Saturday, 22 April at 19h00. Tom Hanks stars in this thrilling portrait of a heroic airline pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, re-enacting his incredible successful emergency landing of an Airbus A320 full of passengers on the Hudson River. The film follows Sullenberger’s January 2009 emergency landing of U.S Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River, in which all 155 passengers and crew survived with only minor injuries, and the subsequent publicity and investigation. The IT Tech Talk with Kyle Knight will take place on Monday, 24 April at 10h30 – all welcome. We will be discussing any issues that you may have as well as looking at “Whatsapp” and this method of communication.

South African “Diamonds are Forever’ themed evening dinner will take place on Friday, 28 April at 6:30pm in the clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Karoo lamb pie /Oven baked mustard & citrus chicken served with cinnamon roasted pumpkin, traditional green beans with onions and a rosemary potato bake. Please book with Andréa at reception on Ext 300 by Tuesday, 25 April. Cost is R150 per person.

We are excited about our Ceres Steam Train trip happening on Saturday, 20 May. Our plan is to travel by steam train from Cape Town to Ceres, be collected by a coach at the station, have a delicious lazy lunch at Waverly Hills, a beautiful organic wine farm in the area and then wend our weary way home in comfort. The cost for the day’s outing will be in the region of R600 excluding refreshments, lunch and wine. Please RSVP by no later than Wednesday, 26 April for us to secure your place on this majestic train. Call Andréa on Ext 300 to book your place.

The Fabulously Flora Competition is open and you are invited to take pictures of the fabulous show in our gardens and submit these by the 25th of each month to stand a chance to win fame and fortune in our annual competition. Submissions will be posted on our Evergreen Facebook page and he winner will be announced in December. Send your favourite photograph to Andrea Witte at andreaw at evergreenlifestyle.co.za<mailto:andreaw at evergreenlifestyle.co.za> and it may find itself on the pages of our monthly national Evergreen newsletter. Please note that the image resolution must be a minimum of 300dpi.

There are still tickets available for the matinee show of Funny Girl – The Musical at the Fugard Theatre on Saturday 6th May. Tickets are available at R290.00. Booking deadline is Monday, 24 April.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Andréa at reception on Ext 300.

Just a reminder that the alteration of the clubhouse is still taking place and we apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to its completion in the next week or so. We will keep you posted on the progress.
