ZSD's 10th BIRTHDAY

Time flies when you are having fun! It was 10 years ago on the 26th
March 1997 that ZSD's first internet account was sold. It was a very
modest beginning in those times, but we have been growing steadily ever
since. Some trivia regarding our first 10 years that not many ISP's can
claim:

- ZSD has run "cash positive" since our 2nd year of operation.

- We are still under the original ownership and original management.

- Our first server, a Pentium 166, is still running and performing a
production function! Although it has been delegated to doing a few
simple tasks. It has never been re-installed or reformatted, but its
Debian Linux operating system is upgraded regularly.

Perhaps the most important thing is that we are still having fun. Our
motivation is still exactly as it was 10 years ago and there no reason
to believe that we will not be around in 10 years time. (But I am afraid
the P1-166 will probably not make it!). We will still be striving to
provide our clients with the best possible service.


NEW LOGO

To coincide with the 10th birthday, we are launching our new logo.
Actually this has been a long time in the pipe line. Both artistic and
technical issues have taken time to resolve. It already is displayed on
the signboards outside our new office. It has just been unveiled on our
web site and it will soon be on our stationery - look out for it!


NEW VOICES AT ZSD

Those who phone our offices from time to time will have heard a few new
voices on the end of the lines. Tjaart, who was with us for over a year,
was made an offer that he could not refuse. We wish him well with his
future career as a specialist programmer. Fagmeeda has been appointed to
our support desk to replace Tjaart. She is rapidly learning our systems
and has already spoken to many of our customers. In the interim, we had
a small "gap" which allowed us to bring Renaldo on board for a month in
a trainee position. He is a talented and very keen young man who I am
sure will be around in the industry for many years to come.

While talking about staff, I would like to wish the best of luck to
Humairah who will be getting married in just over two weeks time!


HOLIDAY SEASON

With a public holiday this week, school holidays in just over a weeks
time and Easter just around the corner, we are beginning to sense a
holiday mood in the city. If you are taking a break, please enjoy it. If
you are on the roads, please drive carefully. Otherwise just indulge in
watching cricket!
