The Melrose Arch Crit is South Africa's premium criterium race. Presented in August every year at Melrose Arch, the event caters for all levels and age categories of riders, from children to elite athletes.
Racing takes place over a 1km circuit within the precinct, making it a safe and spectator-friendly event. The 2019 event is CSA sanctioned and takes place on Sunday, 18 August.
(Criterium racing is a form of road cycling that takes place on an enclosed street circuit in urban areas. Riders race over a predetermined time plus one additional lap after the time period has elapsed.
Time periods are determined by age group and level of proficiency. Circuits are about 1,3km to 2km in length, with many corners and fast straights. The Melrose Arch route is 1km.
This format brings cycling very close to spectators and attracts large crowds. Viewing is very accessible.)

Late entries/registration takes place at Arch Cycles in Whiteley Rd, Melrose Arch, on Friday, 16 August and Saturday, 17 August, from 10am to 2pm, and Sunday, 18 August from 5am.
Entries cost R180 per rider plus R35 for a temporary licence.

            Road closure schedule
Melrose Boulevard, Crescent Drive and Whiteley road will be closed from 16h00 on Saturday 17 August and opened on Sunday 18 August at 15h00
The top of High street will be closed from 06h00 and opened at 15h00 on Sunday 18 August 2019
