[Evergreen Muizenberg] 18 June 2021 : COVID-19 update for the village

        Dear Resident,

Since our last communication of Monday this week I am sorry to inform you that we have
had another residents test positive for COVID-19, Val Hollidge. Val sounds very positive and
is showing many of the 'normal' covid symptoms, lethargy, headache and congestion.
As previously reported our other resident who tested positive, Jean King, is recovering and
doing well, feeling much better after isolating for a week so far.

These recent positive tests with a possibility of more to come is a stark reminder that we
need to be constantly vigilant and not let our guard down. The residents involved in the latest
series of positive tests met for a game of cards, in a confined space, ignoring 'social distancing'
protocols and did not wear masks. If we are going to get through this pandemic relatively
unscathed we need to follow the 'basics'.

Even if you think you only have the flu, at this time of the year very common, do not socialize
with your fellow residents, stay at home until you have fully recovered. It is only fair and
responsible that you should not be spreading any virus to other people. As a courtesy always
call before visiting fellow residents.

As most of you are aware the country moved to an adjusted Level 3 lockdown on Wednesday
this week.
Here is a reminder of the new restrictions:

  *   The hours of curfew are from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  *   Restaurants, bars, sports clubs and fitness centres must close at 9 p.m.
  *   All gatherings will be limited to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors.
  *   Attendance at funerals and cremation may not exceed 50 people.
  *   The sale of alcohol for off-site consumption is permitted between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
I would again like to reiterate to all residents to please alert me, one of the duty managers or the
healthcare sister as soon as you experience any of the typical COVID-19 symptoms, such as a sore
throat, a fever or increased temperature, a dry cough, body aches, shortness of breath, loss of
taste and/or smell. Furthermore, should any of your family go for a COVID-19 test, we request that
you inform us immediately. Please do not let them visit you until they have receive a negative result and
that we have been informed.

COVID-19 infections continue to rise in the Cape Town metropole<http://cityofcapetown.evlink19.net/servlet/link/28169/96320/57308030/487679> and the Western Cape. Currently there are
1069 active cases just in the Southern Peninsula and 9826 cases in the Western Cape. In just ONE week this has
nearly doubled, from 591 and 4499 active cases respectively.
