[Evergreen Muizenberg] 6 January 2021 : COVID-19 cases update for the village

        Dear Resident,

Further to my communication sent on the 30th December I need to update you regarding the
current Covid-19 cases in the village.

We have unfortunately since my last mail had another three positive COVID-19 cases. David Ricketts
was urgently rushed to Kingsbury Hospital on New Year's eve. He is not doing well, our thoughts and
prayers are with Colleen, who is currently in self-isolation until Monday. The other two residents are
Violet Butler and Alfie Gadd, they received their tests yesterday and are self-isolating until 18th January.
Other than some flu symptoms they are relatively well and in high spirits. Residents who have been in
contact with them have been informed and in some cases self-isolating.

All other residents previously reported on have now recovered and we 'welcome them back', Valda
and Geoff Clatworthy, Janice Behr and Jonathan Pittman. Erica Shearer and Norah Robson are still
self-isolating until the week-end after being in contact with family over the festive season.

I am very pleased to inform you that our Care Centre is currently COVID-19 free. The Care Centre
remains under 'lock-down', no visitors are being allowed.

All the cases we have had in the village and the daily media reports of what is happening in our province
is a blunt reminder that Covid-19 can be any and everywhere and close to home. We need to constantly
be vigilant and take every precaution. I still find residents coming to the lifestyle center and removing
their masks to talk and socialise with other residents. Some residents who should be isolating as a
precaution, are also seen moving around.
If you are not wearing a three-ply cloth or surgical mask covering both your nose and mouth, you will
not be allowed to enter or move around the lifestyle center. If you are observed by staff removing your
mask while in the lifestyle center you will be asked to leave.

Again a gentle reminder, if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive you need to let
us know. You will be expected to self-isolate for 10 -14 days to make sure you over the "critical period"
and to prevent any spread of the virus.
Should you need to see a healthcare worker for this or any other medical needs please call the clinic on
ext. 176, our reception desk or press the yellow button on your TeleCare station.
