[Evergreen Muizenberg] 16 February 2021 : Village COVID-19 Update

        Dear Resident,

I am very pleased to inform you that since my last correspondence of some 10 days ago we have
had no village resident, care center resident or staff member test positive for the Covid-19 virus.
A milestone to celebrate...........alone please.

The only resident that is still away from the village because of complications as a result of the virus
is Alf Gadd. He is currently still in the intermediate covid care facility. One of the many effects of
the virus or just generally being sick, is that it lowers your immune system and you are then susceptible
to different illnesses. Without disclosing too much, because Alf was in hospital for two weeks and in the
recovery facility, he was exposed to many other viruses. The body, because of the inflammation, then
requires more medical intervention and takes longer to mend. Alf is improving every day and I am
hopeful he will be back in the village before the end of the week

Unrelated to the covid virus, I would like to welcome Bronwine Mohan as our new catering unit manager,
some of you will remember Branwine from working here previously before becoming unit manager at
Evergreen Noordhoek. Thank you Melanie for all your hard work over the last three years, we wish her
well in her new position and also to Daneal, who has moved to Noordhoek as unit manager.

A reminder to also regularly check your TeleCare emergency station. You should at least test it once a
month by pressing the RED button and waiting for a response. If you ever encounter an issue please
immediately let the front desk know and we will endeavour to resolve it.

Remember the 'golden rules'

  *   social distance, in a confined space keep an extra distance,
  *   wear a mask,
  *   if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or you are not feeling well let
us know, stay at home we will come to you.
