[Evergreen Muizenberg] Evergreen Muizenberg - 21 DAY LOCKDOWN - "Let's flatten the Curve"

        Dear Resident,
As you are aware, the South African Coronavirus Command Council has decided to enforce a nation‐wide
Lock Down for 21 days with effect from midnight on Thursday 26 March 2020,  ending on April 16th 2020.

Without this decisive action, the number of people infected will rapidly increase from a few hundred to tens of thousands,

In compliance with the national lockdown, we will be implementing the following measures:
ACCESS TO THE VILLAGE: The main gate will be closed and access will have to be approved by Village Management
who will only accommodate emergencies.

Carers who are absolutely needed will be permitted to enter provided management have been notified.

Please remember to furnish your Carer with a letter verifying their need to come to the
village otherwise they might be stopped by the South African Police.

SELF-QUARANTINE: All residents are requested to stay at home and self-quarantine - residents will be confined to the village.
The lockdown will affect everyone.

No one will be allowed to leave the village for the 21 days unless under strictly controlled circumstances, which include:

  *   A doctor’s appointment to seek medical care.
  *   to buy food, provisions and other hygiene items
  *   to a pharmacy to collect medicine or other supplies
  *   to collect your social grant.

Remember we have a list of Evergreen volunteers who can assist residents with tasks / shopping.

FRIENDS & FAMILY: Friends and family will not be allowed into the Village, even if they say they are just going to drop
something off at your house. We will accept the item and deliver it to you. We will deny them access.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: Residents are encouraged to keep to themselves and stay in their homes and keep social contact
to a minimum. If you do go out, even in the village, please keep the distance between yourselves to at least 2m / 6ft.

LIFESTYLE CENTRE: For NOW the Lifestyle Centre, Gym and Library are still open. Our caterers are still serving meals.
This can change at any time, dependent on your co-operation.

FOOD DELIVERY: Our official caterers and Steenberg Pick n’ Pay are offering well-priced frozen meals, which are delivered FREE
of charge to the village. Notices have been sent out, you can also contact reception.

Our caterers have also compiled a list of ‘necessity groceries’ which you can order and which will be delivered to your doorstep.

HEALTHCARE SERVICES: Should you need to see a healthcare worker please call the clinic, reception or press the yellow button
on your TeleCare station.

ESSENTIAL SERVICES: NO domestic workers/gardeners will be allowed access to the Village.
Only essential emergency workers will be allowed into the village.

REFUSE COLLECTION:  We are certain the City of Cape Town will continue to collect refuse.
Please put out your refuse as normal before 08h30, weekdays only.

It is business UNUSUAL and new measures will be implemented in the days to come. We shall keep you informed by circulars or on
the newly created WhatsApp group. The committed Evergreen team remain on the frontline of this pandemic, trying to keep you safe.

I would like to remind everyone that coronavirus is a pernicious strain that is highly contagious and if you do not adhere to the quarantine,
you put not only yourself, but the entire village and your community at risk. I cannot stress enough that every time you leave your
home over the next 21 days you potentially expose everyone in our village. Please take advantage of the free deliveries during
lockdown and stay at home.

Please feel free to call reception at any time if you need clarity or require any further information, as normal we have
24 hour duty manager coverage in the village.
It is a very stressful and uncertain time for us all and we will only succeed if we all work together.
