[Evergreen Muizenberg] NOTE FROM EVERGREEN LIFESTYLE VILLAGES (PTY) LTD (“Evergreen”) - Walking during lockdown

        Dear Resident

We have been asked to consider numerous requests to walk in the village during the national lockdown period, which expires at midnight on 30 April 2020.

I would like to thank all residents for their support and determination to self-isolate during the last four weeks of the national lockdown. You have all done
extremely well during these extremely difficult circumstances. Thank you to those residents who have gone above and beyond to check up on friends and
neighbours; for your wonderful support of our management team; and for providing cooking and baking treats for our nurses; you are all simply amazing.
THANK YOU.

The national government have categorically stated, as part of the national lockdown, that all residents remain within the boundary of their house and garden,
which is defined as your  place of residence. The SA police have clarified this interpretation directly with us.

It is not an Evergreen rule, it is a national government decree.

Notwithstanding the above, we realise that some of our residents have expressed their very strong desire to exercise by walking and/or taking their dogs for a walk.
To this end, and in consultation with various bodies, we have come to conclusion that should you wish to exercise by walking in the village you may do so entirely
at your own risk.

The South African Police Service have indicated to us that the fine for such an indiscretion is R1,500, per person, with the risk of arrest for repeat offenders.

Please note that Evergreen does not possess the resources to police our residents taking outdoor exercise.

We have already defined certain exercise recommendations that we intended to implement immediately upon the termination of the national lockdown, on 1 May 2020
>From this date we have been advised that we will all be compelled and required to observe strict social distancing rules. Therefore each resident should familiarise
themselves with and observe these strict village exercise recommendations:-

  *   A demarcated walking route in your village will be supplied by the Village Manager, please do not aimlessly stroll around the village. Please follow the RED

beacons and directional arrows we have put out for you.

  *   You may walk inside the village from 7am until 6pm each day.

  *   Please assist our security staff by not exercising outside of the above noted hours as it will potentially create confusion for our security guards as they
           diligently look out for potential intruders into our Village.

  *   All residents should wear a three-ply cloth mask or alternatively a mask that we can provide to you (please ask your village manager should you require one).

Note that face masks are intended to protect people who come into contact with the wearer. To refuse to wear a mask will put other people’s health at risk.

We realise that wearing a mask is foreign to our culture, but surely you will agree it is far better to look a little bit silly and ensure that we are all preserving lives!

  *   Social distancing of the minimum recommended distance of 2 meters, (two meters) between people is essential.

The more distance you provide beyond the 2 meter ( 6 feet ) minimum, the better.

  *   Please always walk on the left hand side of the road. Please do not stop to socialise or congregate.

  *   The Bistro, Pool, Gym and common areas, including benches, remain out of bounds, unless an individual experiences a medical emergency and needs to rest temporarily.

  *   The strict village access and egress controls implemented will continue to be enforced for the foreseeable future to ensure we keep the Covid-19 virus out of the village
           and to minimise the health risk to all residents.

As a legal entity, Evergreen, has no choice other than to support all national laws and emergency protocols.
This requires people to stay indoors, which is the safest place to be right now.

We appeal to residents, who voluntarily choose to leave the safety of their own home or apartment prior to midnight on 30 April 2020 to adhere to and comply with our above
noted social distancing recommendations. This is required for your safety, as well as the safety of our staff and your fellow residents.

It is clear that Evergreen cannot endorse outdoor exercise. You therefore do so at your own risk.

To the extent that you intend to voluntarily exercise or walk your dog outdoors and with effect from the receipt of this notification we hope you enjoy the outdoors,
sun and the fresh air.

Please do not contemplate leaving our village. We cannot have this Covid-19 Virus being brought into our village through unnecessary and selfish transgressions.
The consequences to our elderly and medically compromised residents are far too terrible to consider.
