        Dear Resident,

There has been talk of EFF call for a National Shutdown on Monday, 20 March. Please ensure that you do your shopping on the weekend to avoid leaving the Village on Monday. We have spoken to staff and have put measures in place to deal with any issues that may arise. It may be that the Monday is treated as a public holiday. Remember, that Tuesday is a Heritage Day and only Reception and Security will be covered.

What’s Cooking
Please see attached daily menu for this week which includes Vegetarian Meals.  The Bistro menu has been altered slightly to accommodate requirements, so please take note of this when ordering.  Only one daily lunch option is available on Saturdays and the Bistro is open until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays..

Forthcoming events:

  *   20 March – “Wol aan die Rol” will be available from 09.30am in the Recreation Lounge and we’ll have Alidas Fashions will be set up from 10am – 3pm.** (please refer to note above on Strike action)
  *   21 March - Human Rights Day – although it is a public holiday, Fedics will still be preparing lunch in the Bistro.
  *   27 March – The next in our conversation project series of “Let’s Talk” will be held in the Recreation Room at 2pm-3.30pm. Our focus will be about preparing a Living Will and teasing out some questions together. Tea & Biscuits will be served.
  *   29 March – The first Quiz Night will take place and I would really encourage you to attend. It promises to be a real fun evening with prizes. Chips and Dips will be provided. Bring your own drinks and refreshments. Meet us in the recreation lounge at 5.30pm and we’ll start at 6pm.

  *   31 March – Movie Night – The Two Popes - All welcome please book with reception on EXT 1400.
  *   1 April – April Fool’s Day
  *   4 April – Tabithas Fashion Pop-Up Shop in the Recreation Lounge from 10.30am – 2pm
  *   6 April – Fellowship Group will meet in the Recreation Lounge at 10h00
  *   7- 10 April – Easter Weekend

Weekly Activities:

  *   Moving Moments - Ani Fiske (Apt 101) is running a morning class focused on strengthening your functional movements every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday mornings at 8.30m.  The morning class takes around 20-minutes and we encourage all residents to try this soothing approach to get moving. There is no cost involved.
  *   Bridge every Tuesday in the recreation room from 14h00 – 16h00 call Mrs. Feitelberg (Apt202) for information Ext: 1602 – ALL Welcome.
  *   Fellowship Group – meets in the recreation room every alternative week between 10am – 12h30. Please contact Jean de Villiers on Ext 1504 for further information. ALL Welcome.
  *   Cake & Tea - Please join us on Thursday for Cake and a cup of Tea/Coffee and chats in the Bistro at 3pm for R25.00 per person.
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Fridays 11h00 – 12h00
  *   Saturday Braai – residents gather every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro. Call Margaret Hull on Ext 1716 for additional information

General:

  *   Internal Refurbishment – a refurbishment team has been allocated to be on-site shortly to work on the internal village items and resident units that require attention. We are finalising the schedule and will inform residents as soon as they are ready to commence their workload.
  *   Aqua-Aerobics – Now that the long-awaited pool staircase has been installed in our swimming pool, I have been asked to put together an Aqua-Aerobics Class. Please let Reception know if you would be interested in participating  in such an activity and I will make enquiries on times and costs.
  *   Gym - Please use the second bike or use the treadmill as an alternative method of exercise.
  *   New Carpets – We’re waiting to fix the water ingress into the passage on the 3rd Floor discovered after the rains. We’ll keep you informed.
  *   Show Units: All units have been done and are on the market for sale. Should you have anyone interested in buying a unit please let us know.
  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30. R40 per trip will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings by a Monday morning, we will cancel the trip for Tuesday.
  *   Refuse Collection: Please assist us and only put out your rubbish bins early on a Saturday (bins get emptied and swopped) and early on Monday morning (bins get washed and sanitized before they are replaced).   Please only put your soft waste out from Saturday and Sunday on a Monday morning to avoid flies and maggots in the bin room.
