We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our residents Lynn Glen-Young - Apt 317 on 28th February; Brian Quinn - Apt 213 on 1st March; and Alfred Randall - Apt 209 on 4th March.

Diep River Bistro – Our meal offering includes a special of the day and Bistro Menu with a selection of breakfast, toasted sandwiches, cake plus hot and cold beverages.  Please be sure to give us a heads up by 4pm the day before if you would like to order the Daily Special in the bistro. The Deli Menu is available 7-days/week from 8am-5pm. Please note that should you wish to enjoy the Deli menu that there will be delays between 12h00 – 13h00 due to pre-ordered daily specials being served to residents for lunch. Payment accepted on pre-paid account, credit or debit card.

Activities Coming up this week:

  *   Bridge Club, is held in the Recreation Room every Tuesday at 2pm. All welcome.
  *   Chair Exercise Group meets to stretch to music every Wednesday morning at 10am in the Recreation Room.
  *   Cake & Tea Thursday - Please join us on Thursday for a cup of Tea/Coffee and chats in the Bistro at 3pm for R25.00 per person.
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Fridays at 11am
  *   Residents Braai – takes place every on Saturday evening.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro. Call Margaret Hull on Ext 1716 for additional information.
  *    Lucky Draw - Last chance to buy your tickets The Raffle monthly draw will be held on Saturday, 5 March - be sure to buy your raffle tickets at reception to stand a chance of winning! The funds will be used for residents, to enhance various activities and functions.
  *   Tabitha Pop-Up Shop will take place on Monday, 28 February in the Recreation Room from 0900 – Lovely summer fashions available.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   Shrove Tuesday Pancakes will be served on Tuesday, 1 March at 3pm in the Bistro. Join up or place your order on Ext 1404. Watch the noticeboard for details.
  *   World Hearing Day Music Quiz – A fun event will be hosted in the Recreation Room on Monday 7th March at 10am. Watch the notice Board for details
  *   International Women’s Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, 8th march.
  *   Come and enjoy a tasty Thai/Asian Dinner to be held on Wednesday, 9th March – See menu attached
  *   The Fellowship Group meets every alternate Thursday at 10am in the Recreation Room Please contact Mrs de Villiers (Ext 1504) or Mrs Randall (Ext 1609) for more details
  *   Human Rights Day– Monday, 21 March
  *   Come celebrate St Patrick’s Day with a special lunch on Thursday, 17 March – Details to follow.
  *   Join us for a sundowner on 30th March at 5pm in the Bistro tasting some delightful Bayede Wines. Altus le Roux is the Bayede wine maker and consultant. Altus was awarded 68 Gold, Double Gold medals for his wines and was awarded the Robert Mondavi International Trophy for the International Wine Maker of the year. Altus is on the Wine and Spirit Board, Technical Committee, Ekov Chairman.

Housekeeping:

  *   Pool Pump/Temperature – We have had to repair the pool pump again as the engine has seized.  We respectfully request that no resident takes the kreepy krauly out from the pool or disengages the pipes from the weir; that no resident switches the pump on/off or enters the pool room; for any reason whatsoever or resets the temperature. Now that the pool pump has been repaired, it should take around 48-hours to heat the pool again.
  *   Library – Please ensure that should you return a book to the library that you place it on the table clearly marked. We sanitise all books prior to putting them back on the shelf. Your cooperation is appreciated.
  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Village at 09h15 every Alternate Tuesday. The next trip is planned for 08/03  [Constantia Village]) and 22/03 [Blue Route]. R30 per trip will be added to your levy account. It is important to book your seat with reception on Ext 1400. If we have no bookings by the Monday, we will cancel the trip for Tuesday.
  *   Just a reminder that we collect Refuse Bins between 8-8.30am each morning to clean and sanitise them before returning them to the bin room. If you have not managed to empty your rubbish prior to this, we request that you call reception on Ext1400. One of our utlity workers will gladly fetch your bag from your door. We ask that you don’t put your rubbish bag in the bin room when it does not have a bin as the hot weather encourages insects out from wherever they are. We have treated the bins and installed a spray in each of the bin rooms to try and prevent maggots, flies and cockroaches from breeding in here. Please assist us and only put out your rubbish bins early on a Saturday (bins get emptied and swopped) and on a Monday morning (bins get washed and sanitised before they are replaced in the bin rooms..
  *   Car Wash – We would like to inform your that car washes will be moved to Friday afternoons to ensure that the village duties are completed. Should you wish one of our utility chaps to clean your vehicle they will gladly oblige on a Friday afternoon. Please book your car wash at reception on Ext 1400.
