        Dear Resident

South Africa reported 17 489 new Covid-19 cases and 453 deaths yesterday. The majority of new cases were from Gauteng who account for 46% of the new cases, followed by Western Cape with 17% and Limpopo accounting for 10%.

I cannot stress enough that we should be vigilant as the 3rd wave has not yet climbed to its peak and it is more transmissible than before. It is gathering momentum in our province and we are grateful that Evergreen has managed to secure the vaccination for our Diep River residents today.

However, please remember to continue to stay in the village for the next 10-14 days in order for the vaccine to take effect and build up your immunity. We again appeal to residents to maintain a "lockdown" mindset and only to leave the village in the case of an emergency or a medical appointment.

Please note the following:

  *   We have opened up the Bistro so that lunch may be taken in the communal dining room. Please adhere to the conditions and respect that only residents who do not leave the village under any circumstances to visit/shop or go to work may use the bistro in order to maintain our "bubble". Only 14 residents may be seated for lunch in the Bistro at any one time, keep your distance, sanitise when you enter and only take your mask off to eat and drink.
  *   Please note that should a resident insist on leaving the village to travel - they will be required to go straight into isolation for the required number of days on their return home. This is a non-negotiable.
  *   We ask that these important conditions be respected by everyone for the well-being of ALL residents.

We would again like to reiterate to all residents to please alert the Village Management as soon as you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, such as a sore throat; a fever or increased temperature; a dry cough; body aches; or shortness of breath; loss of taste and/or smell. If you suspect that you have coronavirus symptoms, please call the clinic or reception for assistance - please DO NOT leave your unit.

It is vital that you report to Management as soon as you are not feeling well and that you isolate and do not socialize with other residents until you are tested and cleared of all COVID-19 symptoms. We have the facility to do the COVID-19 test at the village and can ensure that you are well taken care of.
