COVID-19 VACCINE ROLL OUT - EVERGREEN LIFESTYLE - BERGVLIET

Recently government commenced phase two of the Vaccination roll out program - targeting essential employees, over 60's and those with comorbidities on Monday, 17 May 2021.

After successfully vaccinating all residents and staff at Evergreen Broadacres in Gauteng on Friday 21 May the healthcare team and I started engaging the Western Cape Government to secure vaccines for our villages in the Cape Town Area. After a protracted negotiation period I am delighted to announce that Evergreen Health has been successful in their application to the Department of Health, to administer the vaccination to our residents and all support staff at Evergreen Bergvliet on Thursday 3rd June 2021. The fact that we can vaccinate our residents in the comfort of the village and avoid them having to stand in a long queue once again confirms our commitment to our "Partnership for Life" promise

We will administer the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. This means that there will be a follow-up vaccination day for the second vaccine, between 3 - 6 weeks later. Please note if you have not yet registered to be vaccinated on the EVDS system and you decide that you wish to get vaccinated, it is important that you register yourself urgently or contact the reception staff to assist you.

All Bergvliet residents will be contacted by SR Zuko Mkalipi<http://amdecfs01/_layouts/listform.aspx?PageType=4&ListId=%7b900D27B2-FBF9-405C-851B-C6434D7CCEA0%7d&ID=598&ContentTypeID=0x0100C3182DBB498B724FB5BAFA1F72C2C87D> over the next few days to book and confirm your appointment time for your vaccination we will set up a time table for residents in order to avoid unnecessary time spent in the vaccination area, kindly vacate once you have undergone the vaccination and recovery process. The vaccination process will take place in the Sonnenhof Clubhouse. Due to the Vaccine Roll-Out, all social activities will not be allowed on Thursday, 3rd June. Please bring your ID book and your cellphone with you to facilitate the process.

Evergreen Health will have a team of healthcare workers, and an ER Paramedic on site, to tend to any person who might experience any adverse reaction. Once you have been vaccinated, you will move to an observation area where you will be observed for 15 minutes for any side effects or reactions.

Please take note that if you have had your flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine in the 30 days leading up to 3rd June 2021, you cannot be vaccinated.  You may also not go for a flu or pneumonia vaccine, in the 30 days after receiving your COVID-19 vaccine.

Unfortunately, we cannot keep vaccines for residents who cannot make the scheduled date. In addition, we have requested only enough vaccines for all our Bergvliet residents and support staff. Unfortunately, we cannot vaccinate any friends or family of residents so we request kindly that you DO NOT bring anyone with you to the vaccination area.
