What’s happening next week: 30/11/2020 – 06/12/2020

Birthdays: - We would like to wish  a Happy Birthday to Ton Weber (#05) on 3rd December and to John Drake (A03) who is celebrating his birthday on 6th December.

Bergvliet Bistro –  We have attached the daily special menu for this week. WPC will also be serving Lunch every day and offering a selection of breakfast, toasted sandwiches, cake plus hot and cold beverages. Please be sure to give us a heads up by 4pm the day before if you would like to order the Daily Special in the bistro.  Please contact Chef Chantal or Christina in the Bistro on Ext 200.

MONDAY 30 November**             Salmon Bruschetta served with a citrus salad
TUESDAY 01 December                Butter Chicken & Steamed Rice, served with relish & poppadom
WEDNESDAY 02 December         Bangers & Mash served with gravy and seasonal vegetables
THURSDAY 03 December             Spinach & Feta Cannelloni served with a green salad
FRIDAY 04 December                    Fried Hake & Chips served with a garden salad – R65
** Please note that we will be doing some electrical work in the clubhouse kitchen on Monday but this should not affect service to residents.

Staff Gratuity -  Just a reminder that we have a "no gift" policy with regards to our general staff at Evergreen Villages. However, this policy is relaxed at Evergreen Bergvliet over the Christmas period and we accept voluntary contributions to a "Christmas Fund" that will be managed by two members of Rescom and which will be distributed equally amongst the general workers and excludes senior management. The deadline for collection is no later than Thursday morning, 10 December.

Senior Santa Huis Alleyne - Evergreen Bergvliet has partnered with local non-profit and community home, Huis Alleyne in Bishop Lavis to offer a gift to someone who might not otherwise receive a present this Christmas season. The gifts will be handed over at a special lunch.   We would to request that our residents participate in this initiative individually or form a group to buy a gift or collect small items to pack into a Christmas box or fabric bag.

Items can vary from any of the gift items below:

  *   Clothing items such as socks, slippers , knitted scarves, cuddly blankets etc.
  *   Toiletries, skincare, soap, shampoo
  *   Colouring book & crayons, puzzles, playing card
  *   Books or Audio Books
  *   Snacks, sweets, chocolates etc.
Should you require any additional information, please contact Ext 300. Please hand your gift to reception by no later than 12-noon,  Monday, 14 December 2020 so that we can deliver them to the old age home office for distribution by Christmas.

Coming up this week:

  *   Art Classes offered by Anastasia will be held in the Bistro every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30pm. Residents can reap great benefits from art including improvement of cognition, sensory stimulation and sharpening memory. If you are interested, please contact Anastasia on 072 766 9573.

  *   Canasta Club, hosted by Jacky Orton, will be held in the Clubhouse every Monday at 2:30pm. Canasta is the most traditional and loved card game by all. It is an exciting mix of strategy, luck and skill. Beginners welcome. For additional information, please contact Jacky Orton on Ext 131.
  *   Ageless Grace class will take place every Wednesday morning at 11am in the Bistro. R 50pp per class. If you are interested, please contact Pat on 083 366 2790. The Ageless Grace exercises focus on the healthy longevity of the body, mind, emotion and spirit. All exercises are practiced sitting in a chair and are movements that are natural and organic.
  *   Scrabble every Tuesday at 2pm in the Clubhouse. All welcome! For additional information, please contact reception on Ext 300 or Inez Gretton on Ext 103.
  *   Movement and Dance Classes - Calling all residents who wish to keep active by learning a few dance moves. R50pp per class, every Monday at 5:15pm on the Lawn. For additional information, please contact reception on Ext 300.
  *   Christmas Cake Raffle – Tickets are R50.00 each and available at reception.

 COVID-19 Update

  *   The Western Cape Government is concerned about the growing number of Covid-19 infections and hospitalisations in the province, which can now be considered as an established resurgence.  It is expected that the Metro will become a hotspot. Please ensure that you do everything you can to keep your social distance, sanitise, wash your hands and to wear a mask when leaving your home.
