Bergvliet Bistro – We will be serving Lunch every day plus offering a selection of breakfast, toasted sandwiches, cake plus hot and cold beverages. Please be sure to give us a heads up by 4pm the day before if you would like to order the Daily Special in the bistro. We have had a good response and great feedback. Xmas Donations:

Hope House Xmas Gift  - Make Christmas a special time for an under-privileged child aged between 6-12. Wrap the gift and clearly mark on a label whether it’s for a boy or a girl and identify age.  Place it in the gift box provided at reception by no later than 25 November 2020 so that we can deliver them Hope House for distribution to the various centres.

Be a Santa to a Senior and make them happy this festive season - Evergreen Bergvliet has partnered with local non-profit and community home, Huis Alleyne in Bishop Lavis to offer a gift to someone who might not otherwise receive a present this Christmas season. We are requesting that our residents participate in the initiative individually or form a group to buy a gift or collect small items to pack into a Christmas box or fabric bag. Should you require any additional information, please contact Ext 300. Please hand your gift to reception by no later than 12-noon,  Monday, 14 December 2020 so that we can deliver them to the old age home office for distribution by Christmas.

Coming up this week:

  *   Regular Art Classes offered by Anastasia will be held in the Bistro every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30pm. Residents can reap great benefits from art including improvement of cognition, sensory stimulation and sharpening memory. If you are interested, please contact Anastasia on 072 766 9573.
  *   Canasta club, hosted by Jacky Orton, will be held in the Clubhouse every Monday at 3pm. Canasta is the most traditional and loved card game by all. It is an exciting mix of strategy, luck and skill. Beginners welcome. For additional information, please contact Jacky Orton on Ext 131.
  *   Ageless Grace class will take place every Thursday morning at 10am in the Games Room. R 40pp per class. If you are interested, please contact Pat on 083 366 2790. The Ageless Grace exercises focus on the healthy longevity of the body, mind, emotion and spirit. All exercises are practiced sitting in a chair and are movements that are natural and organic.
  *   Stitch-in- Time -  Meet, mingle and trade inspiration with residents who enjoy knitting, crochet, spinning, felt work, weaving, quilting, tapestry and needlework. Bring your own projects and have fun with a like-minded group. Beginning instruction provided by knowledgeable members at the start of session and you are welcome to ask others to share their knowledge and expertise. The group meets on the second Thursday of the month. Call Rene Esson (Apt 103) or call reception on Ext 300 for additional information.

Forthcoming events:

  *   Classical Music Evening will be celebrating Ludwig von Beethoven on Wednesday, 18 November in the clubhouse at 7pm hosted by Herman Poelmann. Please book your seat with reception on Ext 300.  You are welcome to bring your own wine and refreshments. Unfortunately space limited to 12 residents due to social distancing. See programme attached.

Village Housekeeping:

  *   Pool:  We have experienced some problems with the pool which have now mostly been resolved. The water is heated, its clean and the cover must remain on to maintain heated temperature. Should you wish to swim please call reception on Ext 300 to remove and/or replace the blanket.
  *   VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have had several reports of drivers not adhering to the speed limit of 20km/h in the village. It is imperative that we adhere to this, for the safety of all residents at Evergreen Bergvliet
