I received a daily post from my colleague and Amdec Group CEO, James Wilson. My colleagues and I receive these posts daily from James. I wanted you all to have the opportunity to read this particular post.

Please all stay safe and be disciplined about your health and the health of your fellow residents and all of our Evergreen staff. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Message from James Wilson (Saturday, 25 April 2020):

Good morning colleagues.

DAY 30

Saturday 25th of April.

MY DAILY POST

It has been a very busy week for our President with two important televised presentations to the nation and in between those presentations he deployment the army.

On Tuesday evening our President announced a R500,000,000,000 (five hundred billion Rand) stimulus package for the economy.

On Wednesday the president announced, via a letter to Parliament, that the army would be deployed, to assist the police to maintain law and order and control of the country.

On Thursday night the president revealed that the national lock down would change slightly with the re-opening of the economy via a phrased “risk adjusted” approach. This approach included the relaxing of the national lockdown through five clearly defined and separate phases.

MY SUMMARY:-

What can we deduce from this week of major developments?

I believe the answer is extremely simple. Please read, digest and don’t forget or ignore this summary:-

1. THIS IS A HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND LETHAL CORONAVIRUS. OUR PRESIDENT IS FOCUSSED ON PROTECTING US ALL.

2. IT IS A NOVEL CORONAVIRUS. THIS MEANS IT HAS NEVER BEEN EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY BY ANY HUMAN BEING IN HISTORY.

WE HAVE NO IMMUNITY TO THIS CORONAVIRUS. IT WILL TAKE MANY YEARS FOR THE WORLD’S POPULATION TO DEVELOP HURD IMMUNITY.

3. THIS CORONAVIRUS HAS OVERWHELMED THE MOST MODERN AND SOPHISTICATED MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS AND FACILITIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

4. ALL OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CONTROL THIS CORONAVIRUS, AS IT IS SO HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND PEOPLE IGNORE THIS FACT IN THE EARLY PHASE.

Countries overwhelmed include China (they lied about their death rate), Iran, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, UK and the USA.

5. IF THE MOST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD CAN NOT CONTROL THIS CORONAVIRUS ...... THEN WHY WOULD SOUTH AFRICA BE UNIQUE.

6. THERE ARE NO CURES AND NO VACCINES, (please do not listen to Donald J Trump’s medical advise ... he is getting increasingly crazier with his outlandish suggestions).

THEREFORE THERE IS NO SAFETY NET ... GET THIS FACT INTO YOUR HEAD ... PREVENTION IS THE VERY BEST PROTECTION ... PLEASE DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THIS CORONAVIRUS.

CONCLUSION

IF YOU ARE NOT SCARED OR AT LEAST HIGHLY RESPECTFUL OF THE DANGER POSED BY THIS CORONAVIRUS, THEN YOU ARE EITHER NAIVE OR YOU ARE IN DENIAL.

OUR PRESIDENT HAS PLAYED THIS WEEK LIKE A GRAND MASTER PLAYS A CHESS MATCH:-

TUESDAY - FUNDING;

WEDNESDAY - SHOW OF FORCE;

THURSDAY - THE PRESIDENT HAS CLEVERLY  EXTENDED TO THE LOCKDOWN.

NB ... THE ELDERLY AND PEOPLE WITH PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS WILL NEED TO SOCIALLY ISOLATE AND BE PARTICULARLY CAREFUL WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING FOR MUCH LONGER.

IN MY OPINION, OUR GOVERNMENT IS EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT WE ARE GOING TO SEE A RAPID RISE IN INFECTIONS AND DEATHS.

GET PREPARED MENTALLY.

HUMAN BEINGS ARE PROGRAMMED TO THINK IN LINEAR TERMS ... WE COUNT AS FOLLOWS ... 1,2,3,4,5, etc ...

BUT THIS CORONAVIRUS IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND IT WILL SPREAD EXPONENTIALLY AS PEOPLE START TO RETURN TO WORK. THEREFORE WE CAN NOT THINK IN LINEAR TERMS ... IT MAKES US UNDERESTIMATE THE INHERENT RISK THIS CORONAVIRUS POSES TO US ALL.

THE CORONAVIRUS WILL SPREAD EXPONENTIALLY.

USA HAD APPROXIMATELY 60 DEATHS ON 15 MARCH 2020. THEY NOW HAVE OVER 50,000 DEATHS ... ONLY 40 DAYS LATER. VERY SOBERING AND SCARY.

STICK TO ALL KNOWN SAFTY PROTOCOLS, TO STAY INFECTION FREE.

GET SERIOUS ABOUT THIS CORONAVIRUS.

LASTLY ... my new favorite quote ...

... “HOPE IS VERY MUCH ALIVE”.

THE HUMAN RACE WILL DEFEAT THIS CORONAVIRUS ... MAKE SURE THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE SAFE AND SECURE TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY DAY.

DAILY CORONAVIRUS STATISTICS

Statistics at the end of 24 April 2020.

Worldwide figures:-

We had 115,000 new infections in the last 24 hours. The official number of infected people worldwide is now above 2,800,000.

Active infections - 1,848,000;
Total recoveries - 781,000;
Total deaths - 197,000;
Total cases - 2,826,000.

American figures:-

Active infections - 778,000;
Total recoveries - 93,000;
Total deaths - 52,000;
Total cases - 923,000.

South African figures:-

Active infections - 2,668;
Total recoveries - 1,473;
Total deaths - 79;
Total cases - 4,220.

Number of national tests conducted has improved from 143,570 to 152,390. Nearly 9,000 tests yesterday ... not too bad.

Still not enough testing, in my opinion. Testing is absolutely critical.

AND FINALLY

I HOPE YOU WILL ALL TAKE THIS CORONAVIRUS SERIOUSLY NOW ... THE PRESIDENT IS VERY SERIOUS ... AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO!
