We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Wench Hovstad (#76) on 15th July; Sally Kinross (#06) and Jean van Rhyn (#49) on 16th July.

Our choice of meal for our Tuesday Social Dinner on Tuesday, 16 July in the Clubhouse at 6:30pm is a choice of slow cooked Beef Ravioli with creamy mushroom sauce topped with parmesan, with Greek salad and dressing OR Beer Battered Hake with tartar sauce, fresh lemon, chips and Greek salad with dressing. Dessert is Peach Crumble with whipped cream followed with tea/coffee. R140pp.  Please book with WPC before 12-noon on Monday, 15 July. Bookings can be made with Sheila in the Bistro on Ext 200. Payment can be made on account, cash or credit card. You are very welcome to bring your own wine/refreshments.

Coming up this week:-
-           Classical Music Evening on Wednesday, 17 July in the clubhouse at 7pm. Hosted by Herman Poelmann - the evenings programme will feature Dvořák Cello Concerto in B Minor with Cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2 played by Anna Fedorova. Please book with reception on Ext 300 for seating and catering purposes. Salty snacks will be available and you are welcome to bring your own wine and refreshments.
-          Maya Ingwersen’s (Née Albrecht) Presentation on Tuesday, 16 July in the clubhouse at 6pm. She will be sharing some of her beautiful memories of growing up at Sonnenhof, her childhood home, which is now our clubhouse at the Evergreen Village. Either reserve your table for dinner on Tuesday,16 July OR indicate your attendance (no dinner). We will require everyone to be seated by 6pm for this brief trip down memory lane with Maya on her experiences of growing up on the farm in Bergvliet.
-          Bingo night on Friday, 19 July in the clubhouse at 6pm. Join us for a fun-filled evening. Please book for catering purposes as a light meal will be served.

Forthcoming events:
-           Xmas in July Dinner to be held in the clubhouse on Friday 26 July at 6:30pm – booking open for our popular event on the calendar. Details to follow.
-           Western Province Catering will be hosting an Evergreen Cook-Off at their Taste Kitchen in Cape Town on Tuesday, 6 August 2019.  An invitation has been sent out to all residents to enter in teams of two contestants. ONE lucky team from each village will be drawn on 21 July to compete against teams from other Evergreen Villages. It promises to be a really fun event. Choose your partner and complete the entry form available in the Bistro, to stand a chance of being drawn to represent Evergreen Bergvliet in the WPC Cook-Off.
-           Work on the apartments is almost complete and access to the village is planned for the end of the month. It is our intention to take accompanied groups of interested residents to view the new Apartments. If you are interested in going on a walkabout, please put your name on the list at reception. Date, time and further details will be provided shortly

Village Housekeeping
-- FTTH – Please note that the paving contractor has had further delays and will continue to work outside of Units 34/35, 55/56, and 60/61 next week. Trenching will be done in order to unblock the line/conduit to enable the fibre installation.
- Blackland Painters – Have completed their project and have moved off site. A skeleton team will be available to do any snagging not yet attended to.
- Village Shuttle – our weekly transport shuttle service to shopping centres (Meadow Ridge, Constantia Village and Blue Route as well as  medical suites) is working well. Shuttle service is available on Tuesday (9am) and Thursday (1pm). Please book your seat with reception. A R20 nominal fee will be charged per passenger which can be billed direct to your levy account.

Don’t forget to buy your Monthly raffle tickets and tickets for the beautiful homemade and decorated Christmas Cake baked by one of our residents, Yolanda Bondsmith. Tickets available at reception. Cake Draw to be done on 26 July and monthly draw on Tuesday, 30 July.
