Happy Birthday wishes to Mike Smith (Unit 67) on 4th February and to Charles Foster (Unit 48) on 7th February.
The monthly Movie Night will be held on Saturday, 2 February at 7pm. The Eiger Sanction - a 1975 American thriller film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The film is about an art history professor, mountain climber and former assassin once employed by a secret United States government agency who is blackmailed into returning to his deadly profession and do one more "sanction“. He agrees to join an international climbing team in Switzerland planning an ascent of the Eiger north face in order to complete a second sanction to avenge the murder of an old friend. Please contact Paddy Fordyce on Ext 152 for any additional information and to confirm your attendance for seating purposes.  You are welcome to bring your own refreshments

Our Social Dinner on Tuesday, 05 February will start at 6:30pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving Cottage Pie with beetroot salad  OR Salmon & leek quiche served with garden salad both served with seasonal roasted vegetables. This will be followed by homemade honey & nut ice cream, R140pp. We kindly request that you book with reception or call Ext 300 by no later than Monday, 04 January at 12-noon. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments.

Our regular Men’s Breakfast will take place on Thursday, 7 February at 9am. R70 per person. A full English breakfast will be served in our new Bergvliet coffee shop and we encourage you to join us and get to know your villagers.

Our regular Quiz Night will take place on Thursday, 7 February at 7pm. An evening of general knowledge questions where each team gets to test their wits against others. Paddy Fordyce, our Quiz Master, will take you through your paces for the night and it promises to be an evening of fun and laughs. There will also be some lovely prizes. A light meal will be served from 6:00pm – please call Jordan on Ext 300 to book for catering and seating purposes by no later than Tuesday, 5 February. You are very welcome to bring your own beer/wine and refreshments for the evening.

Please note that there will be a second Sales Event on Wednesday, 6 February from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. The first event was very successful and over-subscribed. Just a reminder there will a number of people wandering around the village with the sales force, more particularly in the new phase. Visitors will be parking in all the visitors bays around the clubhouse, phase 4 and in the circle. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Forthcoming Events:
-       Classical Music Evening will take place on Wednesday, 13 February at 7pm. For more information please contact Herman Poelmann on Ext 115.  The programme includes a Piano Concerto in E flat Major and a Violin Concerto in G Minor. Both Performed by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Joji Hattori. Soloist: Alma Deutscher

-       The popular Pub Evening will be held on Thursday, 14 February.

-       Monthly Sunday Roast at 12:30 on 17 February

-       A Telecare information session will take place on Wednesday, 20 February

-       Live entertainment evening scheduled. MELLO & JIVE will take place in Clubhouse on Friday, 22 February at 6:30pm. Book you places soon!

-       Unique Health Wellness Day will be held on Wednesday, 27 February from 9am – 3pm.

Housekeeping Items:

-       Joseph Gabiso will be taking his annual leave from Monday, 4 February to Friday, 25 February.  I am pleased to announce that Muneer Solomons will be returning to the village to help us out as a general worker until Joseph returns. He will stay on to assist in the village duties.

-       Just a note that I will be away for Monday, 4 February and Tuesday, 5 February.  Jordan will be assisted by Elvirah Daniels from head office.  Please feel free to call me on my cell phone in the event of an emergency.
