What’s happening next week: 12/02/2018 – 18/02/2018

We would like to wish Lynne Wilms a very Happy Birthday on 8th February.

Our Social Dinner on Tuesday, 13 February is at 6:30pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Cottage pie with roasted vegetables OR Salmon, leek/feta quiche and salad.  This will be followed by Koeksister and Amarula Ice cream and coffee/tea. We kindly request that you book at reception or call Ext 300. Booking and payment is required by no later than 12pm on Monday, 12th February. Unfortunately, no late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.

The Clubhouse Bistro is open for lunch, Monday to Friday from 10:30 – 2:30pm, except on Tuesdays. No booking required. Yvonne Whitford will serve many favourites including an all-day breakfast, light lunches and salads as well as toasted sandwiches. For the sweet tooth, a cake of the day will be offered plus a limited selection of hot and cold beverages. Please book for Sunday Roast Lamb Lunch on 18th February at 12h30. R165 per person.

We sent an updated circular from Arthur Case this week regarding the progress of pushing back Day Zero. We applaud those “Water Warriors” who have made a concerted effort to curb their water usage. Just a reminder that the City of Cape Town will charge residents exponentially higher rates from the beginning of February. Some helpful water saving tips:

·         Do not flush the toilet unless necessary. The slogan “if its yellow let it mellow and if its brown flush it down” applies. (Each flush uses between 6 and 9 litres).

·         Do not turn on any tap fully.  Lower the pressure by only using half a turn.

·         Only take a 90 second stop/start shower (turn off while soaping) and while waiting for the water to warm use a bucket to collect the clean water which can be used for dish washing or flushing the toilet.

·         Do not leave the tap running while washing hands or cleaning teeth and use sanitiser instead of washing hands.

·         Do not use your washing machine until you have a full load and use the economy cycle. (An average washing machine uses over 55 litres per load).

·         Wash dishes in a bowl placed in the sink so that you can reuse that water for flushing the toilet.

·         No watering of the garden or washing of cars may take place using municipal water.

Forthcoming Events:

-       Telecare will be doing a presentation on the Emergency Call procedure and will answer any questions you have. Please meet in the Clubhouse at on Tuesday, 20 February at 10h30.

-       IT Coffee Break has been scheduled for Monday, 26 February at 10h30am

-       Unique Healthcare will be doing a presentation in Clubhouse on Wednesday, 28 February at 3pm. Tea will be served.

Please note that Andréa has taken additional leave and will be back at the village on Tuesday, 20 February.  Have a great weekend and hopefully we will get some of the promised rain tonight!
