We would like to wish Clare Bergh (Unit 22) a very Happy Birthday on 3rd February and we would also like to extend a very special congratulations to Ronnie and Toetie van Reenen, who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on 1st February.

Our Social Dinner on Tuesday, 06 February is at 6:30pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Roast fillet of Beef OR Roast Chicken with gravy, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.  This will be followed by Ice cream & chocolate sauce and coffee/tea. We kindly request that you book at reception or call Ext 300. Booking and payment is required by no later than 12pm on Monday, 5th February. Unfortunately, no late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.

The Clubhouse Bistro is open for lunch, Monday to Friday from 10:30 – 2:30pm, except on Tuesdays. No booking required. Yvonne Whitford will serve many favourites including an all-day breakfast, light lunches and salads as well as toasted sandwiches. For the sweet tooth, a cake of the day will be offered plus a limited selection of hot and cold beverages.

Please support Operation SMILE,  our charity drive for 2018. We are raising funds by collecting plastic bottle caps or plastic bread ties, to change the lives of children who are born with a cleft palate, the fourth most common birth defect in the world. Every kilogram of plastic collected will be recycled and the money raised will go towards paying for the surgery the beneficiaries need. Each operation costs about R5500.00. A jar will be placed in reception and we appeal to you to drop in your plastic lids and ties whenever you can.  Elda Diana-Oliaro is our SMILE champion and will deliver the collected plastic items to Operation Smile drop off points throughout the year

There was an interesting article in News24.com reporting that Cape Town law enforcement officials have issued R4 000 in fines to residents who have failed to comply with the new level 6B water restrictions, which kicked in on Thursday, 01 February. The updated water tariffs circulated to residents yesterday is punitive for water abusers. We have attached an example of what this can mean for higher consumption by users. We have contracted with Motla to read our water meters once per week in an effort to keep tabs on the amount of water we’re using in our village and we trust that you will continue to do your part to save as much water as you can to avoid “day zero”. We applaud those residents who have made a concerted effort to save water by introducing various measures in their homes. Let’s work together.

Andréa has taken some annual leave from today and will be back at the village on Monday, 12 February. And lastly, the civils company working in Barn Road will be moving our boundary wall into the village by approximately one metre sometime next week. The vibracrete fence and the security fence will be moved and reset on the same day. It will necessitate that the flower boxes and latte fences on the main road (on the right hand side, as you come into the village) be relocated to various spots identified, next week.
