What’s happening next week 17/07/2017 – 23/07/2017

We would like to wish the following residents a Happy Birthday: 22nd Heidi Findeis (Unit 21).

We would like to remind residents that we are updating the receivers at our boom gates and would like everyone to have their blue access remotes reprogrammed for the entrance/exit booms, by Monday afternoon. It will be done by Guy Mawike at the security gate and should take no longer than one-minute. We kindly ask that you have this done by no later than Monday afternoon. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact either Andréa or myself to assist you.

Our Social Dinner will take place on Tuesday, 18 July at 6:30pm for 7:00pm in the Clubhouse. We will be serving a choice of Geschnetzettes & Rosti  OR Haddock & Hake Pie served with seasonal vegetables. This will be followed by Self-saucing Chocolate Pudding and Ice cream and coffee/tea. We kindly request that you book and pay Andréa on Ext 300 by no later than 12pm on Monday, 17 July 2017. No late bookings can be accepted and there will be no refund in the event of a no-show.

The monthly Music Evening on Wednesday, 19 July will feature Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber with a gala concert: Masterpiece. China was officially introduced to the works of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber with a gala concert staged at The Great Hall of the People in Tianneman Square. Boasting an international company and a 60-piece orchestra, the concert — starring Kris Phillips (Fei Xiang), Coco Lee and London's leading musical theatre actress, Elaine Paige. The concert features songs from Jesus Christ Superstar; Evita; Cats; Phantom of the Opera; and more., staged at The Great Hall of the People in Tianneman Square. Please call Hermann Poelmann to indicate if you are going to attend for seating and catering purposes. You are welcome to bring your own wine and refreshments on the evening. It promises to be a well-supported night and we encourage you to call Herman Poelmann on Ext 115, if you would like to attend, for catering (salty snacks) and seating purposes.

The Movie night featuring Allied, will take place on Saturday, 22 July at 19h00. In this WWII spy thriller, a Canadian airman Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) and French Resistance operative Marianne Beauséjour (Marion Cotillard) pose as a married couple for a dangerous mission in Casablanca.  Their cover story soon leads to an actual love affair and their starting a family together, but Max's happiness is shattered when he's told that he must take part in an investigation to determine whether Marianne is really a double agent working for the Nazis. Please contact Elda on Ext 155 for any additional information and to confirm your attendance for seating purposes.

Forthcoming events:
-       Our Coffee Break IT Workshop will take place on Monday, 24 July at 10:30pm. Meet Kyle Knight, our technology specialist in the Clubhouse and chat to him about and the benefits of smartphones and anything else you need clarity on.

-       Xmas in July will take place in the clubhouse on Friday, 28 July – R150 per person. There is a beautiful traditional home-made Christmas Cake on display at reception which is being raffled for R30,00 per ticket. Your support is appreciated.

-       Please diarise to attend the Evergreen Bergvliet AGM which is to be held in the clubhouse on Thursday, 24 August at 3:00pm

Just a reminder that we are planning to hold an Arts & Crafts display on Saturday, 9 September. Please diarise this date. We can accommodate more tables for residents to display their Art/Craft and it promises to be an exceptional display. Should you wish to display your hobbies, crafts or artwork please contact reception as Felicity Walker is on holiday until 17 August.
