<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-ZA">Melrose Arch is pleased to be hosting Carnival Sunday for the first time on 15 March and visitors can look forward to a festive day of live music, dancing, drumming, workshops,
performances and a party. Carnival Sunday is part of the third annual Johannesburg Afro-Latin Festival, which is taking place from Thursday, 12 March to Sunday, 15 March. (The festival will be taking place at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel in Sandton from
Thursday to Saturday, and at Melrose Arch on Sunday from 12h00 to 17h30.)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" style="margin-left:.5in">The highlight of Carnival Sunday will be performances by acclaimed international salsa band Tromboranga, who will be playing in Africa for the first time, adding South Africa to their 2020 world tour. As part
of the new generation of independent Latin orchestras, Tromboranga is the essence of salsa dura, a style of salsa music developed in the 1970s with an emphasis on the instrumental part of the music over the lead vocals, creating a strong, raw and very danceable
sound. Based in Barcelona, Spain, Tromboranga’s members hail from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia and Spain. Tromboranga will perform on Melrose Arch’s High Street at 14h00 and 16h15.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-ZA">On Carnival Sunday, families and friends can experience taster dance and drumming workshops, social dancing and live music, as well as delicious food and drinks specials by
partners such as Rodizio Brazilian Grill, Kitamu Taste of Africa, Hello Tomato and Senhor Peri Peri. The MC for the day, Julian Mister M, will be dressed by Melrose Arch’s African bespoke couture store, Ledikana. A closing party will be held at Rodizio Brazilian
Grill at Melrose Arch at 19h30 on Sunday night. Entrance to Carnival Sunday at Melrose Arch is free; however, tickets are required for the closing party.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

The Johannesburg Afro-Latin Festival celebrates Afro-Latin dance and music such as salsa, bachata, tango and kizomba and related African-heritage genres, while showcasing South African dances. The event brings diverse communities together while attracting
more than 200 national and international tourists, as well as artists from across the African continent, Europe and the Americas. The term ‘Afro-Latin’ broadly includes genres and cultural phenomena that have evolved from exchanged cultural expression between
peoples of Africa, the Americas and Europe. The event welcomes people of all ages, races, cultures and creeds and celebrates diversity. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, learn something new and have a good time with friends and family.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
