<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">in the early hours of yesterday morning. We realise that not only is it a shock to the
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">system, but it also disturbs some essential sleep, which as we get older is sometimes
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">difficult to achieve.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">However this comes with some paradox, putting the inconvenience aside and after
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">assessing the problems I see a huge positive. I see it as a very necessary emergency
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">evacuation drill. We were able to experience a ‘real-time’ evacuation without any warning
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">at one the most inopportune times.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">I would like to thanks all those volunteer evacuation marshals and staff on duty who helped with

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">the evacuation and to you, the resident, who took part in the evacuation. Also thank you to those

reacted swiftly to his <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">request and two technicians were here the same morning. Two devices, one situated in the
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">basement near south block lift and one in the kitchen, were found to be faulty. These were replaced.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">With the continuous load shedding that we are currently experiencing it was also found that the
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">software in the fire panels, which allows the panels to communicate with each other, had also corrupted. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">This is the primary reason that the alarm went on for so long and Siviwe the manager of duty was
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">unable to deactivate the alarm. New updated software has now been downloaded. The system was
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">tested and found to be working optimally. Batteries were also tested and found to be in good working
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">order and charging during normal electrical supply hours.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
