[Evergreen Muizenberg] Covid19 vaccine roll out for older persons

        Dear Resident,

The recent rapid increase in the percentage testing positive for COVID-19 and the 7-day moving
average of confirmed cases nationally, and across all provinces, is cause for concern. Data has
showed an overall 46% new case increase in comparison to the previous week, with the Northern
Cape accounting for the most, at 68%, of this total and us in the Western Cape accounting for 21%.
Although there has not been an increase in hospital admissions, COVID-19 related deaths increased
by 18% in comparison to the preceding week. The Western Cape accounted for 21% of these fatalities.

The National Institute For Communicable Diseases acting Executive Director, Prof. Adrian Puren says
that while we have not yet crossed the national threshold for a so called "third wave", the current
trajectory is worrisome and should it continue its course, we will likely cross the threshold for a "third
wave" in the coming weeks. "If members of the public continue to implement meticulous social distancing
and adhere to the non-pharmaceutical measures, transmission will decline and the third wave will be
delayed.  And with the vaccination of elderly people scheduled to commence next week, delaying the
third wave will provide more time to vaccinate those most at risk for severe disease, and will thus save
lives", Puren concludes.

Please find attached a letter from Dr. Guin Lourens, our Evergreen Health Nursing Manager, on the
proposed Covid 19 vaccine roll-out. We have REGISTERED all residents who have requested us to do so.
If you have been registered you should have by now have received a SMS confirming this.

Residents are reminded to stay vigilant and I urge everyone to continue to follow all our covid safety
protocols.

  *   wear a mask in company
  *   practice a high level of hygiene by constantly sanitising
  *   if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or you are not feeling well let
us know, stay at home we will come to you.
