[Evergreen Muizenberg]

        Dear Resident,

Having had the first vaccination done last week was a wonderful experience for a lot of us and we
look forward to having the 2nd vaccination in +/- six weeks' time. Please find attached, from the
office of the Director General: Health, a circular regarding the Pfizer vaccine, the one we received,
and the dosing interval.

For those residents who were unable to have the first 'jab' for whatever reason, you are going to
receive your first vaccination this Monday, 14th from 10h00.

Having said this, is does not mean that we are out of danger, especially after only one of the two
vaccinations administered. It is not yet safe to return to the way things were before Covid-19.
All the vaccine will do is give us a better chance of surviving the Covid-19 virus. You can still get the
virus and you can still infect others with it. Once you have had the second vaccine dose, this will
protect you against getting very sick from the virus which in the past has led to death in some cases.

We find people are more relaxed about their social distancing and some residents even without
masks. It is therefore still vital that we adhere to the protocols and continue to wear our masks,
sanitise and keep our social distance.

As you I am sure are aware there has been a spike in infections in the last two weeks, what some
healthcare practitioners and politicians call the "Third Wave". To illustrate the increase see the
following table / numbers, this is in just one month:-

Only just over 230 000 people have been vaccinated so far.......... a mammoth task still lays ahead.
