[Evergreen Muizenberg] 28 January 2021 : COVID-19 Update for the village

        Dear Resident,

I trust you are all enjoying the warm summer weather. There might be some respite, I see
there is a 50% chance of rain on Sunday, let's hope

I would like to update you regarding the current Covid-19 status in the village. Since my last
communication we have had a further two residents and a staff member test positive for the
COVID virus.

  *   Dawn Gordon, after not feeling well was encouraged to take the test on Thursday which

came back positive the next day. We immediately informed residents who had been to

contact with her, assessed the risk with two residents going into isolation. Dawn is, under

the circumstances, relatively well and is being closely monitored

  *   Brenda Wadsworth who was isolating started feeling poorly on Monday, had a test

yesterday, also returned positive. Brenda is also being closely observed and monitored.

Both these residents on the 'face of things' had ignored basic COVID-19 protocols and had
refreshments together while Dawn was feeling sick with typical COVID-19 symptoms.

I have a short note from Denise Elkin, our healthcare residents committee member, and COVID-19
survivor, appealing to residents regarding their behavior.

A friendly note to fellow residents.

Keith and I contracted COVID 19 and we're sure it was after spending a short time with

Alf Gadd and Violet Butler; we removed our masks as we were having a drink and then

continued chatting, we all later tested positive.

Please friends when with other people, especially in the Lifestyle Centre practice social

distancing and wear your mask properly - an uncovered nose means you're not wearing a

mask. I notice friends sitting chatting without their masks and not keeping their distance,

replace your mask immediately after eating or drinking.

Believe me COVID 19 is an awful virus, you don't want to put yourself or fellow residents at

risk so please wear your mask properly and keep social distancing.

  *   Christo Snel, our facilities co-ordinator, starting showing symptoms over the week-end,

immediately isolated and tested positive yesterday. He is already feeling better and is very

positive about his recovery.

News on Alf Gadd, Alf was discharged from Victoria Hospital on Saturday and transferred to a
intermediate COVID care facility ward in the grounds of Lentegeur Hospital. I am in daily contact with
Alison, his daughter, he is being well care for and progressing physically.

The one good news story is the slow but steady decrease in the active cases of COVID-19 in the
Western Cape, by all accounts over the crest of the 'wave', refer to table below -

Another reminder about social distancing, remember when using the lifts please restrict the use to
three persons only. It is a confined space so keep your distance.

Again, if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or you are not
feeling well let us know, stay at home we will come to you.
