[Evergreen Muizenberg] 5 February 2021 : COVID-19 Update

        Dear Resident,

An update on our current Covid-19 status in the village. Since my last communication I am very
pleased to inform you we have had no residents or member of staff in our village test positive for
the COVID virus.

  *   Brenda Wadsworth, who is isolating until Tuesday next week, is starting to feel better, is

eating, moving around in her apartment and 'catching up'

  *   News on Alf Gadd, he is still in the intermediate COVID care facility at Lentegeur Hospital.

According to Alison, his daughter, he is making a slow but steady recovery. He is on low

amounts of oxygen but not yet walking un-aided. He is being well care for.

We have unfortunately had a resident test positive in the Care Centre. The patient is doing well
under the circumstances and is on a ventilator with the high flow O2 directly into their lungs.
All vital signs are within the normal range with no fever.

Dawn is up and about and other than feeling some lethargy is well. Christo is back at work and
moving around like the "energizer bunny" as only he is able.

While the "good news" story is that infections are on a slow decline and recoveries are increasing
we still need to be vigilant. Just yesterday Guin Lourens, our Evergreen Health nursing services
manager, was in a Western Cape Department of Health meeting preparing for the "3rd wave" which
they expect to hit us in 12 weeks' time. Very sobering news indeed.

A reminder that we are still not allowing contractors into the village, as an 'older persons facility' we
we under different stricter Covid-19 protocols.

Remember the 'golden rules'

  *   social distance, in a confined space keep an extra distance,
  *   wear a mask,
  *   if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or you are not feeling well let

us know, stay at home we will come to you.

Look after yourselves, stay safe.
