[Evergreen Muizenberg]

        Dear Resident,

At this time of giving and remembering those less fortunate than ourselves a special thanks goes out to all
the very generous Evergreen Muizenberg residents who again 'dug very deeply' into their pockets to contribute
monetarily to the annual staff gratuities. It is wonderful to be part of such a generous and caring community.
This year R33 390.00 was raised, well over what was collected last year.

The staff have asked me on their behalf to thank everyone who donated towards this collection.
"May your festive season be filled with blessings" ..........was the message.

The other collection involved the Douglas Murray Home for the Aged in Retreat. Many of the residents come from
very poor backgrounds. Residents gave a variety of clothing and food stuffs. A thank you letter from the home is
attached.

Trying to capture the year 2021 in words is more or less impossible and to say it's been a tough and
demanding year is an understatement. While we have successfully negotiated a second challenging year,
Christmas Day will again be very different for many of us with social distancing and mask wearing, we need to
do our part to curb the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, be responsible and careful.

I'm afraid to say, we all need to be patient a little bit longer. I am confident in saying that this will all soon be
behind us ! Having said that, I'd like to again thank all of you for persevering and doing your part to help limit
the spread of the virus during the past year 638 days and so doing protect others around you.

At this time we should give our gratitude to those who over the Christmas period will be working, such as our

healthcare, our bistro, our security staff, some of our cleaning staff and our duty managers. And externally all

emergency services staff, hospital staff, police services and those who keep our utilities running.


Also time to remember the "champions" of our different activities, there are so many who have had a part in keeping
our community vibrant through these last two years. I think here of the different art groups, knitting, church
services, bingo, different card game groups, cultural get togethers, from the large community activities to each
individual who has taken the initiative to make the days better in any way, big or small, thank you.



For me all that is left to say is to wish you a safe Christmas and hope that 2022 will be a brighter, more positive and

much healthier one for us all.
