[Evergreen Muizenberg] 18 December 2020 : Update on COVID-19 cases

        Dear Residents,

Further to my communication sent on the 9th December it is with deep sadness that I inform
you that the resident that tested positive for the Covid-19 virus the previous week passed on
yesterday morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I have also to inform you that another resident in the apartments tested positive for the virus
yesterday, they have isolated since feeling unwell. All persons who have been in direct contact
with the resident have been tested and have 'self-isolated'.

I am very pleased to report that the previous two resident who contracted the virus are doing
well and are going through the different stages of the recovery process

I would also like to take this opportunity to update you on the Care Centre Covid-19 cases. All
residents in the centre were tested which revealed an additional four residents testing positive
for the virus, bringing the total to six. Regular testing of all staff there are being conducted and
residents monitored for any symptoms. The Care Centre remains under 'lock-down', no visitors
are being allowed.

With the resurgence of the Covid-19 virus, the so called "second wave", the hospitals and clinics
are again under huge pressure. We have just this morning been told by a number of doctors,
pathologists and hospital management to stop testing people unless they are showing symptoms.
If you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive you need to let us know. You
will be expected to self-isolate for 10 days to make sure you over the "critical period" and to
prevent any spread of the virus.

Should you need to see a healthcare worker for any other medical needs please call the clinic, our
reception desk or press the yellow button on your TeleCare station.

Again a gentle reminder to please observe the COVID-19 Golden Rules :-

  *   Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water, or use a sanitiser with an
          alcohol content of at least 70%.

  *   Try avoid touching your face.
  *   Wear a mask when outside your home at all times, covering both your nose and mouth.
  *   Practice 'social distancing', a distance of at least 1.5m between you and your fellow resident.
  *   Cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue, or if not available into the crook of your arm.
  *   Avoid potential high 'used' areas, large crowds or gatherings.
  *   If you're not feeling well, stay at home
