[Evergreen Lake Michelle] Social activities and events

Greetings Everyone

Clare Yeowell, as the ResCom member responsible for social events, has been putting in a lot of work in getting various activities and events off the ground. Thank you Clare!

Those of you that have been up on the First Floor of the Lifestyle Centre will have noticed work being done on sorting out the library books. Our thanks to Irene Uffhaus and the ladies helping out. We’re eagerly awaiting additional shelving that will enable more books to be on display, as well as CDs and DVDs, many of which have been donated by residents.

Attached you will find flyers for two events that we’re hoping will be of interest to those of you who indicated your interest in “Birding” and/or “Photography” in the recent survey.

On Thursday 7 July at 16:00 (next week) Pete van der Spek is making a presentation on photographs he took while attending an airshow at the Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire, UK. The airfield is the home of the Imperial War Museum Duxford (https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford<https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford>) and the American Air Museum and was also the home of Douglas Bader’s Big Wing.

The following week, on Wednesday 13 July at 15:00 Jack de Boer has arranged with Chris Spengler, the convenor of the Lake Michelle Bird Group, to make a presentation on the birds in and around Evergreen Noordhoek.

Both events will be held in the Lifestyle Centre and will hopefully lead to the formation of interest groups and further activities. You should also note that refreshments (tea, coffee and other liquid refreshments 😊) will be available from the Bistro, these for your account.

All are invited to attend but please do RSVP to the person identified in the flyer so that the necessary seating can be arranged.
