NOTIFICATION KOMMETJIE ROAD UPGRADE: RECONSTRUCTION OF BULLER LOUW/OKW/FRIGATE CRESCENT INTERSECTION

Dear Interested & Affected Party,

The reconstruction of the Buller Louw Boulevard/Ou Kaapse Weg/Frigate Crescent intersection has been scheduled for this weekend Friday, 18 October 2019 - Sunday, 20 October 2019.

The work will be completed in two phases as described below:

Phase 1: Friday, 18 October 2019 - Saturday, 19 October 2019
Buller Louw Boulevard and Frigate Crescent will be reconstructed requiring full closure of both intersections as shown in Figure 1 below. Buller Louw will be closed from Ou Kaapse Weg to Sunnydale Road. Frigate Crescent will be closed from Ou Kaapse Weg to Chebec Crescent. Ou Kaapse Weg will remain open in both directions.

Phase 2: Saturday, 19 October 2019 - Sunday, 20 October 2019
The middle of the intersection on Ou Kaapse Weg will be reconstructed as shown in Figure 2 below. Motorist will be able to enter and exit Buller Louw Boulevard and Frigate Crescent, however crossing the intersection will not be possible. Ou Kaapse Weg will remain open in both directions.

The KRU team considered various approaches to the reconstruction of the intersection and concluded that a full road closure over one weekend would be the quickest, safest and the least disruptive option. The intersection upgrades have been discussed with local businesses who have provided their cooperation and support for the proposal.

Motorists are cautioned to be on the alert for vehicles entering and exiting the construction zones during construction.
