KOMMETJIE ROAD UPGRADE - EARLY START OF WORK: THURSDAY, 2 AUGUST 2018



Dear Interested and Affected Party,



Tomorrow morning, Thursday, 2nd August 2018: Martin and East will be starting work along Ou Kaapse Weg between Kommetjie Road and Longboat Street at 05:00. This important activity on the project requires an early start to ensure that there is adequate time to complete the operation.



This operation is the chemical stabilisation, using cement, of the crushed stone material that has been brought in over the past number of weeks to various sections of the site. It starts with the delivery to site of bagged cement, offloading at predetermined positions, spreading by hand and then mixing with a special road recycler. After mixing the material is compacted and the road surface shaped to the correct profile before final compaction and watering is done.



Work is not expected to be completed before 18:00 tomorrow evening.



Further stabilisation will occur again on 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th August 2018 depending upon weather conditions and delivery of cement to site.
