Update on intrusion of 05/05/17

The Board, SECOM and Management are busy doing investigations regarding the breach of our fence line. The entry point was repaired last Friday and the number of guards on the perimeter has been increased. Perimeter checks have also been increased inside and outside to detect possible "preparation" of intrusion points. Our fence is in good working order and is tested on a regular basis.

Extensive work has been undertaken by SECOM during the year to upgrade our security system which has already gone through a tendering process. We would like to reiterate that our security system is operating adequately and the upgrades that are up for discussion are in line with the normal "useful" life of the various systems.

A general meeting will be called after our AGM at the end of this month to attempt to get approval on part of the security spend and possibly on other key projects. This has become necessary as the Asset Replacement concepts were not approved at our February general meeting. We would like to urge members to attend the AGM and general meetings held in the year to make their voices heard, so that areas that they are concerned about receive the necessary attention.

It is also interesting to note at least 4 houses have been targeted in the Noordhoek area in the last few weeks. It appears that the criminal element is becoming more active and targeting the area and we should all be more aware of our surroundings. If you see or hear something which you think is out of the ordinary please inform Security or the Admin Office.

Dear Members,

It is most unfortunate that we have to advise you that our perimeter was breached early this morning. Entry was gained along the Northern fence line by intruders digging under the fence and breaking and removing the anti-dig concrete and steel.

Thereafter they were able to gain access to a resident's house. Fortunately no physical harm was inflicted on the residents whose dogs alerted them to the intrusion. The intruders made their escape through the same hole taking some, but not all, of the items they removed from the house.

Shortly after the intrusion, Management, Lake Security and the police were at the resident's home, and they have already started their investigation.

We would like to impress upon all that although we live in a secure estate, it is paramount that we are aware of the need for our own personal security and to maintain a level of awareness.

This incident, being the first in approximately 4 years, is of great concern to the Board and Management and we will carry on working with our security committee (Secom) in terms of the proposals tabled at the last general meeting.
