What’s Cooking:  Please see attached next week’s menu.  Our full day breakfast is popular (not served between 12h00 – 13h00) and last food orders for Bistro must be in before 4pm during the week. There is only one lunch option is available on Saturdays. The Bistro is open until 5pm on weekdays and until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.

Activities coming up this week:

  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 19th September. Cost is R50 per trip and will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings the day before, we will cancel the trip.
  *   Bingo Night hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 20th September at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
  *   Aqua-Aerobics will take place on Wednesday, 13th September from 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day.
  *   The Naturally Pampered beautician will be back for Spa Treatments in the Sky Lounge on Thursday, 21st September at 09h30. Please book your individual appointment for your treatment directly with the beautician,  Lelhaam, on 0823967573 or with Reception Ext: 1400.
  *   Thursday Tea & Cake on Thursday, for R25.00 at 3pm.
  *   Wear Purple - In order to raise awareness on September 21st - World Alzheimer’s Day we encourage everyone to wear the colour purple. It’s an international campaign aimed at raising awareness and challenge the common stigma that surrounds Alzheimer related dementia.
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Friday, 22nd September from 11am – 12-noon.
  *   Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro and watch the RWC Rugby.
  *   RWC: Invite your friends to watch the SA vs ROM on Sunday, 17th September at 15h00 SA vs Romania in the Bistro.  Snacks and Refreshments will be served.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   We are excited about the upcoming LIVE performance with  “The Companions”  - a group of senior performers who will entertain us with song and dance at 3pm on Wednesday, 27th September. ALL welcome. A donation to the Companions of any value is welcomed at the door. Please book your seat. with Reception on Ext 1400 before Tuesday, 26 September.
  *   The inaugural Rummikub afternoon was a great success and it was decided to hold a game every alternate Thursday. So the next game will be held on Thursday, 28th September at 2pm in the Bistro. Rummikub is a tile-based game for up to 4 players, combining elements of the card game rummy and mahjong. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know how to play. We’ll all learn together. It was a whole lot of fun! ALL welcome. Please put your names down for seating arrangements. Call reception on Ext 1400.
  *   Fellowship Group will be in the recreation room, Thursday 21st September at 10h30 contact Mrs J de Villiers (Ext 1504) or Mrs. Randall (Ext 1609).
  *   Heritage Day Braai – The village will arrange a Lunch Braai on Monday 25th September as the weather will be a little warmer. A special braai menu will be available. Watch the Notice board for details.
  *   Coloring-In Mandalas – Join us for a calm creative afternoon in the Bistro on Tuesday, 26th September at 2pm -. Mandalas, Crayons and Koki’s will be supplied but if you have your own, please bring them along. Please book your seat with reception on Ext 1400.
  *   General Knowledge and Hollywood Film & Musicals Quiz Night – will be held on Wednesday, 4th October at 6pm. Please book with reception.
  *   Save the Date! Evergreen Diep River Market Day – 6th October – for additional information or to book a table, please speak to Amanda George on Ext 1400/1406. More details to follow.
  *   Shoe Lady pop-up shop will be set up in the Recreation Lounge on Monday, 9th October from 09h30 – 13h30 – Lovely affordable shoes will be available for summer! Pop in and see what’s on off.

Internal/External Work:

  *   Neil and his team have started working on the 1st floor and will be finishing off shortly.  We are so pleased that we are almost done in all the resident units. The Refurbishment Team have been fantastic and very mindful of the residents. Well Done.

  *   We have started the renovation work in the Laundry and Staff Room.  The two machines have been moved into the basement parking for the duration of the renovation. Georgina has been tasked to fetch, carry, dry and/or iron your laundry for you – please book your machine time with Reception to avoid congestion. We shall be finished here by the end of September and I am sure that everyone can’t wait. We have also scheduled a re-lining of the washline.

Rugby World Cup 2023:  A RWC Score Tracker board has been placed on the wall in the Bistro to keep track of who’s doing what and how may points each team has. Please get dressed up in green and gold every Friday to cheer on our Springboks in the World Cup. All residents are invited to watch ALL the rugby matches in the Bistro. EPI have kindly sponsored a few snacks, juice & wine for each SA game played leading up to the RWC finals matches (see dates on poster) GO BOKKE!

Please note that Sharon Adams will be on leave for two weeks from 18-29 September and will be back in the village on 2 October. In the event that you require anything please call me on Ext 1401.  Melanie Carstens will also be available during this time.
