What’s Cooking:  Please see attached next week’s menu.  Our full day breakfast is popular (not served between 12h00 – 13h00) and last food orders for Bistro must be in before 4pm during the week. There is only one lunch option is available on Saturdays. The Bistro is open until 5pm on weekdays and until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.

Activities coming up this week:

  *   Happy Arbor – 1st September Entrance plants were undertaken today by our residents to welcome in Summer.
  *   Alidas Pop Up Shop and Wol-aan-die-Rol will take place in the Recreation Lounge on Monday 4th September between 09h00 – 13h00. Pop in to see what is available for summer.
  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 5th September. Cost is R50 per trip and will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings the day before, we will cancel the trip.
  *   Coloring-In Mandalas – Join us for a calm creative afternoon in the Bistro on Tuesday, 5th September at 2pm -. Mandalas, Crayons and Koki’s will be supplied but if you have your own, please bring them along. Please book your seat with reception on Ext 1400
  *   Aqua-Aerobics will take place on Wednesday, 06th September from 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day.
  *   Fellowship Group will be in the recreation room, Thursday 07th September at 10h30 contact Mrs. Randall on Ext: 1609.
  *   Tea & Cake on Thursday for R25.00 at 3pm
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Friday, 08 September from 11am – 12-noon.
  *   Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro.
  *   Invite your friends to watch the Rugby World Cup on Sunday, 10th September at 17h45 - SA vs Scotland in the Recreation Lounge

Forthcoming Events:

  *   The first Rummikub afternoon will be held on Tuesday, 12th September at 2pm. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know how to play – we’ll have an introduction session and we encourage you to come down and try it! It should be a lot of fun. ALL welcome. Please put your names down for seating arrangements. Call reception on Ext 1400.
  *   Shoe Lady will set up in the Recreation Lounge on Wednesday, 14 September at 09h30 – 13h30. She will have some new summer fashion shoes for us to try.
  *   Save the Date - Charles Lang Wines – Wine Tasting to be held on 15th September at 3pm in the Bistro.
  *   “Let’s Talk” – Our Conversation Project will take place on 19th September in the Recreation Lounge at 2pm. All Welcome. Tea and Biscuits will be served.
  *   Bingo Night hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 20th September at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
  *   Fellowship Group will be in the recreation room, Thursday 21st September at 10h30 contact Mrs. Randall on Ext: 1609.
  *   The Naturally Pampered beautician will be back for Spa Treatments in the Sky Lounge on Thursday, 21st September at 09h30. Please book your individual appointment for your treatment directly with the beautician,  Lelhaam, on 0823967573 or with Reception Ext: 1400.
  *   Heritage Day Braai – The village will arrange a Lunch Braai on Monday 25th September as the weather will be a little warmer. A special braai menu will be available. Watch the Notice board for details.
  *   Hollywood Film & Musicals Quiz Night – will be held on Wednesday, 4th October at 6pm. Please book with reception. Poster to follow.
  *   Save the Date: a LIVE performance by “The Companions”  a group of senior entertainers will sing and dance on Wednesday, 27th September – Details to follow.

Internal/External Work:

  *   Neil and his team have completed the 3rd floor and have started working in units on the 2nd Floor. We will continue on the second floor this coming week and plan units on the 1st floor thereafter.
  *   We are going to do some renovation work on the Laundry and Staff Room in order to change the two areas around. To endure that residents can continue to wash and dry – the team will move the two machines into the basement parking for the duration of the work. Georgina will be tasked to fetch, carry, dry and/or iron your laundry for you – please book your machine time with Sethu to avoid congestion. Commencement dates will be confirmed in SMS.

Rugby World Cup:
I am so glad that Residents have entered into the spirit of Bok Friday! If you haven’t already entered, please submit your lease also look at the RWC predictor attached and join in the fun by correctly guessing the winning scores for each game. We have an entry form for you to complete available at Reception. Updates will be sent to you via an administered ELV WhatsApp group. All entry forms and entry fees are to be submitted to Village reception by Monday 4th September. Please get dressed up in green and gold every Friday from next week to demonstrate the backing of our Springboks in the World Cup. The games are on the roll! See schedule below:
