We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Jessica Quinn (#213) on 1st November.

What’s Cooking:  Our full day breakfast is popular (not served between 12h00 – 13h00) and last food orders for Bistro must be in before 4pm during the week. There is only one lunch option is available on Saturdays. The Bistro is open until 5pm on weekdays and until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.

Activities coming up this week:
* Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on Tuesday. Cost is R50 per trip and will be added to your levy.
* Halloween Lunch – Join us in the Bistro for Halloween on Tuesday, 31 October. A special Build-Your-Monster-Burger will be available with all sorts of lovely toppings. Dessert is an optional extra!
* Coloring-In Mandalas – Join us for a calm creative afternoon in the Bistro on Tuesday, 31st October at 2pm. Mandalas, Crayons and Koki’s will be supplied but if you have your own, please bring them along. Please book your seat with reception on Ext 1400
* Aqua-Aerobics will take place on Wednesday, 01 November from 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day.
* Fellowship Group will meet in the recreation room, Thursday, 2nd November at 10h30 contact Mrs. J de Villiers (Ext 1504) or Mrs. Randall (Ext 1609
* Roy Dibley, Auctioneer will be available from 09am-2pm on Thursday, 2 November in the Sky Lounge to buy jewelry, watches and antiques.
* Thursday Tea & Cake on Thursday, for R25.00 at 3pm.
* HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Friday from 11am – 12-noon.
* Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro.  .
* Sunday Roast Lunch – Please book by Friday to enjoy a delicious roast on Sunday.

Forthcoming Events:
*Alidas Fashion will be showing off their new Summer Fashion in the Recreation Lounge on Monday, 6th November from 10am
* Rummikub will be held in the Bisto on Thursday, 9th November at 2pm in the Bistro.  ALL welcome. Please put your names down for seating arrangements. Call reception on Ext 1400.
* A special Lunch outing to Frans in Simonstown is planned for 10th November. Please book your spot for lunch and indicate whether or not you wish to travel by arranged transport (limited seats). The lunch will be ordered off the menu and transport cost (R100pp) will be added to your levy account. Please book your spot with Sethu on Ext 1400.  See poster attached.
* Bingo Night hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 15th November at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
* General Knowledge Quizz Night will be held in the Recreation room on Wednesday, 22 November at 6pm. Please put your names down if you would like to attend. Fabulous prizes and a good time to be had for all.
* Remembrance Day will be commemorated on 11 November 2023

Housekeeping:

  *   You will have noticed that there is a collection of water lying in the basement. This is coming from an underground leak at the Steurhof station. It has been reported it to the necessary authorities and we are waiting for them to repair it.
  *   Just a reminder that Window-O-Wash will be on site on Monday, 30 October at 9am to clean all windows.
  *   Mandi Kunca, Grinell Security officer will be on annual leave from 28th October to 21st December. Our stand-in security guard is Melikhaya Nzululeka.

As I write this email, we are waiting for the Final rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand to be played on Saturday, 29th October. Our Head coach, Jaques Nienaber has opted for a 7-1 split against NZ and believes that this team is the most experienced line-up in Bok history. We trust that they will take every point every, make every inch count and make the people of South Africa proud!

In other sports news, South Africa faces Pakistan to day in the ODI World Cup and it likely to be affected by rain in Chennai. South Africa looks promising for the win as Pakistan have underperformed in all their matches played so far.
