We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday on 27th November to Dawn Bonthuys (#203) and a special 80th Birthday to Gaye Davies (#315) on 30th November.

Activities coming up this week:

  *   Colouring-In Mandalas – Join us for a calm creative afternoon in the Recreation Lounge on Tuesday, 28th November at 2pm. Mandalas, Crayons and Koki’s will be supplied but if you have your own, please bring them along. Please book your seat with reception on Ext 1400.
  *   Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro.  .
  *   Sunday Roast Lunch – Please book by Friday to enjoy a delicious roast on Sunday.
  *   POOL CLOSED OR REFURBISHMENT * for approximately one week or until further notice.
  *   The Bistro will be closed on Monday, 27/11 and Tuesday, 28/11 for repairs and painting and so lunch will be served in the Recreation Room for these two days.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   Shopping Transport for December will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 12/12 and 28/12. Cost is R50 per trip and will be added to your levy.
  *   Fellowship Group will meet in the recreation room, Thursday, 30th November at 10h30 contact Mrs. J de Villiers (Ext 1504) or Mrs. Randall (Ext 1609)
  *   Rummikub will be held in the Bisto on Thursday, 5th December at 2pm in the Bistro.  ALL welcome. Please put your names down for seating arrangements. Call reception on Ext 1400.
  *   Our Year-End Dinner & Live Entertainment is planned for Wednesday, 13th December at 6pm. We have managed to secure “The Marvellous Wonderettes” To entertain us on the evening. It will be lovely to spend an evening celebrating 2023 with everyone before we go our separate ways over the festive season.
  *   Just so that you’re kept in the loop, we’re planning a Christmas Eve Special Lunch (Sunday 24th December) and a Traditional Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day (Monday, 25th December) followed by a light lunch on the Day of Goodwill (Tuesday, 26th December)
  *   A Bring & Share function is planned for News Year’s Eve. More details to follow.
  *   A Sales Event aimed at interested prospects will be held at the Village in the Recreation Lounge in mid-January between 10am to 12-noon. If you have any friends who are interested in attending this informative morning, please let me know and we will add them onto the invitation list.

Internal Refurbishment
We are very excited to be getting our internal passages, balustrades and staircases in village painted. Neil and his team are working as fast as they can

  *   The Bistro will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for repairs and painting and so lunch will be served in the Recreation Room for these two days.
  *   They have started on the 3rd Floor and will be working their way down. We will also be attending to the apartment front doors. So please keep your   passageway (inside) windows closed during the day to avoid the dust as workmen prep areas to paint and then watch the wet paint signs.
  *   We have another Team that is working in the Pool Area*, Reception and the Internal Fire Escape. Wayne and his team will be working in this area on Saturday, 25th November from 8am – 4pm, in order to get our freception/oyer entrance done before next week.

Housekeeping:

  *   Just a reminder that our Staff Christmas Party will be held on Thursday, 14th December and if you are contributing to the staff gratuity please deliver to the admin office before Friday, 7th December.
  *   The 15th December has been made a Public Holiday due to our wonderful Springbok Rugby Champions and we are grateful for the extra day in December.
  *   Christmas Gift Drive for the Douglas Murray Home for the Aged:  just a friendly reminder to consider our request to give a Christmas gift a senior resident of DMH who might not otherwise receive a present this festive season. At any given time, DMH have between 70 and 80 residents who are frail and need care. They are aged citizens who are from the retreat community who have limited resources and are cared for by volunteers. This home relies on fundraising from donations and contributions to ensure that their elderly have a comfortable space and living environment and are treated with compassion, respect and dignity. A gift box is available at reception for you to drop off any items such as books, colouring books and kokis, board games, snacks, toiletries or clothing you wish to donate by no later than Friday, 8th December.

Please book for the year end dinner and see the fabulous Marvelous Wonderettes on 13th December. It promises to be a fantastic show that has had rave reviews and we are so lucky to be charmed by these entertainers. There are 30 days left until Christmas!  The weather is warming up and Eskom will still need to continue load-shedding in December as power generating units at major power stations are experiencing further breakdowns.
