What’s Cooking:  Please see attached the daily menu for this week.  Only one daily lunch option is available on Saturdays and the Bistro is open until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.
Activities coming up this week:

  *   Saturday, 6th May - A Special Coronation Brunch will be held in the Bistro on Saturday, 7 May from 11am to celebrate King Charles’ Coronation. We plan to watch the whole ceremony which starts at 12-noon in the Recreation. A Tea/Coffee station will be set up courtesy of the Rescom. Watch the whole Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III, one of the most significant Royal events in decades, live on TV as they unfold throughout the day.
  *   .Monday, 8th May will start with Wol aan die Rol selling their wool in the morning from 09h30 to 12h30
  *   “Let’s Talk” – to be held on Monday, 8 May in the Recreation Lounge at 2pm. We will be having a conversation about choosing a health care proxy. Milkwood Legal Services will speak to us about the legalities of creating a Living Will, having an Advanced Care Directive and appointing a Health Care Proxy. This is opportunity to examine the life we are living and to discover what matters most to that life. Please book your seat if you wish to attend the presentation by calling reception on Ext1400 for catering purposes. Tea & Biscuits will be served.
  *   Wednesday, 10th May -.
  *   Thursday, 11 May – Treasure Chest Art Workshop - Please join us for an expressive art activity that will involve drawing with mixed media and/or collage. Spend time connecting with your personal creative side using different mediums. The organisor will bring all materials and will facilitate this workshop. NB: A minimum number of 10 residents will be required to participate or else the workshop will have to be cancelled. The cost is R60.00 per person payable to Reception when you book on Ext 1400 on or before 5pm on Tuesday 9th May.
  *   Friday, 12 May - Kind to Hearing will be on-site to attend to your hearing needs – please make an appointment at reception with Sethu if you need them to come to your apartment between 12h30 – 13h30.
  *   Sunday, 14th May - Mother’s Day Roast Lunch from 12h30 – We wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. Invite you and family for a three course traditional Lamb Roast to celebrate.
Weekly Activities:

  *   Aqua-Aerobics will take place 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day Cake & Tea - Please join us on Thursday for Cake and a cup of Tea/Coffee and chats in the Bistro at 3pm for R25.00 per person.
  *   Tea & Cake Thursday Special R25.00 at 3pm every Thursday
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Fridays 11am – 12-noon.
  *   Saturday Braai – residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro. Call Margaret Hull on Ext 1716 for additional information.
Forthcoming Events:

  *   Bingo Night will hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 17 May at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments
  *   Fellowship Group will meet in the recreation room on Thursday, 18th May between 10am – 12.30pm. Please contact Jean de Villiers on Ext 1504 for further information. ALL Welcome.
  *   Tuesday 16th May –Kinesiologist Presentation - A certified Kinesiologist presentation on the benefits of working through the body’s energy field affecting the immune, digestive, endocrine and meridian systems as well as muscles, bones, glands, chakras and organs. The aim is to balance the physical and mental, emotional or energetic systems of a person. She will offer her guidance and explain how this modality is completely non-invasive, gentle approach to healing your system. Come and find out more. We invite you to attend this presentation to learn how this treatment can help you heal and maintain your well-being. Please RSVP to reception on Ext 1400 to reserve your seat and for catering purposes. Tea and Biscuits will be served after the presentation.
  *   Paint a Mug – a workshop will be held in the Bistro for all residents to enjoy painting a bisque plate or mug, having it glazed and fired to add to your collection.  More details to follow.
  *   Movie Night – Friday 26 May – Movie to be confirmed.
  *   The first Pamper Day was a success and we lucky to host the next Pamper Day on Tuesday, 30 May in the Sky Lounge from 9am-3pm. Please book your individual appointment for your treatment directly with the beautician Lelhaam, on 0823967573.Pleae see notice board for details and prices. On Ext 1519
General:

  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 16th May and 30th May. Cost is R40 per trip and will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings by the Monday morning, we will cancel the trip for Tuesday.
  *   Refuse Collection: We appeal to ALL residents to put out your rubbish bins early on a Saturday (bins get emptied and swopped) and before 8am on Monday morning (bins get washed and sanitized before they are replaced).   Please only put your soft waste out from Saturday and Sunday on a Monday morning to avoid flies and maggots in the bin room.
  *   I still find shopping trolleys on different floors. Please arrange to return them and do not leave them in passage ways or on the landings. Call Reception on Ext 1400 if you need help.
  *   Amanda George has taken a few days leave and will return to the office on Wednesday, 10 May.
  *   Loadshedding between stages 3, 4 and 5 will take place over the weekend.
