We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Kathy Young (#215) on Tuesday and Artwell, our Village gardener who celebrates his Birthday on Saturday, 17 June. Have a blessed Birthday.
What’s Cooking:  Please see attached next week’s menu.  There is a daily soup special for our residents during the cold winter months. We have introduced a full day breakfast (not served between 12h00 – 13h00) and last food orders for Bistro must be in before 4pm during the week. There is only one lunch option is available on Saturdays. The Bistro is open until 5pm on weekdays and until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.
Activities coming up this week:

  1.  Telecare will be answering questions and doing a presentation of services in the Recreation Lounge on Tuesday, 13 June at 10h30.
  2.  Aqua-Aerobics will take place on Wednesday,14 June from 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day
  3.  Cake & Tea - Please join us on Thursday for Cake and a cup of Tea/Coffee and chats in the Bistro at 3pm for R25.00 per person.
  4.  The country will be celebrating a public holiday, Youth Day, on Friday, 16th June and this means that HNA Active Aging Class will be cancelled due to the public holiday.
  5.  Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro.
  6.  Happy Father’s Day – Sunday Roast has been planned for 18th June in the Bistro and we are offering a lovely roast lamb meal for R120pp.
Forthcoming Events:

  1.  Wol-Aan-die-Rol will back on 19 June with their lovely pop-up shop.
  2.  Our resident beautician will be back for Spa Treatments in the Sky Lounge on Tuesday, 20th June at 09h00. Please book your individual appointment for your treatment directly with the beautician Lelhaam, on 0823967573.Pleae see notice board for details and prices. On Ext 1519
  3.  Bingo Night hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 21 June at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
  4.  “Let’s Talk” – Our Conversation Project continues on Monday, 26th June and will take place in the Recreation Lounge at 2pm. All Welcome. Tea and Biscuits will be served.
  5.  Movies & Music Quiz – will take place in the Recreation Lounge on Tuesday, 27 June at 6pm. Soup & Rolls will be available. Please book your seat and meal at reception or call Ext 1400
  6.  There will be a lovely “Flower Arrangement” demonstration run by florist, Caryn McCarthy on Wednesday, 28 June at 2pm. Come and join us to learn how to brighten your home with colour and flowers with a few simply hints.
  7.  Wine Tasting – we have managed to secure a wine tasting of different estates by Wine Source on Thursday, 29 June at 4pm in the Bistro. Please book with Reception. Watch the notice board for details.
General:

  1.  We would like to welcome Lukho Zicina to our village. He is the new general worker who commenced his duties today, Friday, 9 June
  2.  Please note that Georgina Adonis, our domestic worker has taken on the responsibility of common areas and laundry (washing and ironing) to be done in the laundry room. Please book this service in the future through Sethu on Ext 1400.
  3.  Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 20th June and 27th June. Cost is R40 per trip and will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings the day before, we will cancel the trip.
  4.  Refuse Collection: We appeal to ALL residents to put out your rubbish bins early on a Saturday (bins get emptied and swopped) and before 8am on Monday morning (bins get washed and sanitized before they are replaced).   Please only put your soft waste from the weekend out on Monday morning before 8am to avoid flies and maggots in the bin room. Please call reception for the utility workers to collect bag from your unit if the bins have already been taken away.
  5.  We are doing a collection of Nappies for the Douglas Murray Home in Retreat which we will run until the end of July. See attached a poster. Please drop any packets off with Sethu at reception. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
  6.  I will be taking some leave days from Monday, 12th June to spend with my family and will be back in the office on Wednesday, 21st June .
There is thick snow on the Matroosberg which has turned our weather cold and rainy.  The weekend offers us sunny skies on Saturday but rainfall through the week until next weekend! On the bright side, Eskom has reduced its load shedding hours - long may it last.
