What’s Cooking:  Please see attached next week’s menu.  Our full day breakfast is popular (not served between 12h00 – 13h00) and last food orders for Bistro must be in before 4pm during the week. There is only one lunch option is available on Saturdays. The Bistro is open until 5pm on weekdays and until 3pm over the weekend and on public holidays.

Activities coming up this week:

  *   Wol aan die Rol will set up in the Recreation lounge on Monday 21st August between 09h00 – 13h00
  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Reception at 09h30 on 22 August. Cost is R40 per trip and will be added to your levy account. If we have no bookings the day before, we will cancel the trip.
  *   “Let’s Talk” – Our Conversation Project on Tuesday, 22 August will take place in the Recreation Lounge at 2pm. All Welcome. Tea and Biscuits will be served.
  *   Aqua-Aerobics will take place on Wednesday, 23rd August from 10h30 – 11h30 with instructor Tanya. Please call Ext 1400 to add your name to the list at reception. Classes are R50 per session and can be paid in cash on the day.
  *   Fellowship Group will be in the recreation room, Thursday 24th August at 10h30 contact Mrs Randall on Ext: 1609. Mrs de Villiers has been discharged from hospital and is recovering in Step Down.
  *   Tea & Cake on Thursday for R25.00 at 3pm
  *   The Naturally Pampered beautician will be back for Spa Treatments in the Sky Lounge on Thursday, 24th August at 09h30. Please book your individual appointment for your treatment directly with the beautician,  Lelhaam, on 0823967573 or with Reception Ext: 1400.
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Friday, 25th August from 11am – 12-noon.
  *   Saturday Braai – Residents get together every Saturday evenings at 6pm.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   General Knowledge Quiz – will take place in the Recreation Lounge on Wednesday, 30th August at 6pm. Soup & Rolls/Sandwiches will be available. Please book your seat and meal.
  *   Arbor Day – You’re invited to a planting ceremony on 1 September to celebrate Arbor Day. Details to follow.
  *   Alidas Pop Up Shop will take place in the Recreation Lounge on Monday 4th September in conjunction with Wol Aan Die Rol between 09h00 – 13h00
  *   Charles Lang Wines – Wine Tasting to be held on 15th September at 3pm in the Bistro.
  *   Bingo Night hosted by Margaret Hull (Ext 1716) on Wednesday, 20th September at 7pm. Entry fee R50 and you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
  *   The Companions - Live Performance by a group of entertainers on Wednesday, 27th September – Details to follow.

Rugby World Cup:
I am looking forward to the Rugby World Cup in September and would love us to introduce Bok Friday’s. Please get dressed up in green and gold every Friday from next week to demonstrate the backing of our Springboks in the World Cup. Please also look at the RWC predictor attached and join in the fun by correctly guessing the winning scores for each game. We have an entry form for you to complete, choose a Team Name or a User Name and pay an R50 entry fee. There is also a predictor sheet with all the games, dates and time of game. Our first SA game is South Africa vs Scotland on Sunday, 10th September at 17h45.Updates will be sent to you via an administered ELV Whatsapp group. All entry forms and entry fees are to be submitted to Village reception by Monday 4th September. Let the games begin!

Internal/External Work:

  *   Internal Unit Cracks/Bathroom Tiles and Internal Repairs/Painting have commenced with the internal unit repairs of those that have been reported to Management floor by floor. We will continue on the third floor this week and plan units on the 2nd floor thereafter.
  *   The Internal Repair and Paintwork will be undertaken by Highpoint shortly. The programme is being finalised for them to be on site to set up and commence working on all the common areas including the Bistro, Pool Area, Recreation Lounge, Clinic, Sky Lounge and Admin Office as well as all passages and Fire Escape staircases.
  *   We will be doing some renovation work on the Laundry and Staff Room which will commence shortly.  I will keep you informed once I get a schedule of when the work will start..

General:

  *   It has come to our attention that residents are leaving food for staff on top of refuse bins in the bin rooms,. Please don’t its unhealthy and not respectful at all.
  *   It has also come to our attention that residents are hanging their washing on the furniture in the newly created Sky Lounge! Please don’t – this is absolutely not acceptable. This is a common area for ALL residents to enjoy.

Voter Registration: We have also arranged for Voter Registration checks to be available at the village on Friday 25th August from 09h00 – 13h00. Please bring your ID book and cellphone to confirm your address or a=register to vote in the area,
