        Dear Resident,

Diep River Bistro – Our meal offering includes a special of the day and Bistro Menu with a selection of breakfast, toasted sandwiches, cake plus hot and cold beverages.  Please be sure to give us a heads up by 4pm the day before if you would like to order the Daily Special in the bistro. The Deli Menu is available 7-days/week from 8am-5pm. Please note that should you wish to enjoy the Deli menu that there will be delays between 12h00 – 13h00 due to pre-ordered daily specials being served for lunch. Payment accepted on pre-paid account, credit or debit card.

  *   PUBLIC HOLIDAY – we will be serving our usual lunch on Human Rights Day, Monday, 21 March at 12h30 - Join us for Bobotie on Yellow Rice served with seasonal vegetables and sambals
  *   The Fellowship Group meets on Thursday, 24 March at 10am in the Recreation Room Please contact Mrs. de Villiers (Ext 1504) or Mrs. Randall (Ext 1609) for more details
  *   Movie Night on Friday 25th March – Head full of Honey: A widower, Nick Nolte, grows increasingly frustrated as Alzheimer's disease starts to claim the memories of his loved ones. He soon embarks on a remarkable journey as his young granddaughter (real life daughter Sophia Lane-Nolte) takes him to Venice, Italy the city where he met his beloved wife. Contact Margie Lee on Ext 1519 to book your seat and for “popcorn” boxes.
  *   Bridge Club, is held in the Recreation Room every Tuesday at 2pm. All welcome.
  *   Chair Exercise Group meets to stretch to music every Wednesday morning at 10am in the Recreation Room.
  *   Cake & Tea Thursday - Please join us on Thursday for Cake and a cup of Tea/Coffee and chats in the Bistro at 3pm for R25.00 per person.
  *   HNA Active Aging Class connects with residents to exercise in the recreation room on Fridays at 11am
  *   Residents Braai – takes place every on Saturday evening.  Bring your own meat and refreshments and gather in the Bistro. Call Margaret Hull on Ext 1716 for additional information.

Forthcoming Events:

  *   Join us for a tasting of some delightful BAYEDE Wines on 30th March at 5pm in the Bistro. Altus le Roux is the wine maker and consultant. Altus was awarded 68 Gold, Double Gold medals for his wines and was awarded the Robert Mondavi International Trophy for the International Wine Maker of the year. Altus is on the Wine and Spirit Board, Technical Committee, Ekov Chairman.
  *   Celebrate National Walking Day on 6th April - Please join us for a short fun walk followed by light lunch. Walkers, slops, and animals welcome. Gather in the garden and get your T-shirt. Enter exciting competitions and have some fun with your friends. We are also offering a celebratory lunch - Gourmet Boerie Roll and Glass of Bubbles for R50. Book with WPC timeously on Ext 1404.
  *   Music Quiz – Friday, 22 April at 4pm - Book the date. A fun afternoon is planned to have a music quiz in the recreation room. Lots of prizes and laughs. Bring & share.

Housekeeping:

  *   Library – Please ensure that should you return a book to the library that you place it on the table clearly marked. We sanitise all books prior to putting them back on the shelf. Your cooperation is appreciated.
  *   Shopping Transport will meet at Village at 09h15 every Alternate Tuesday. The next trip is planned for 22/03 [Blue Route]. R30 per trip will be added to your levy account. It is important to book your seat with reception on Ext 1400. If we have no bookings by the Monday, we will cancel the trip for Tuesday.
  *   We are collecting Easter Chocolates/Treats for the Douglas Murray Home for the Aged.  We would like to offer a sweet treat to a senior citizen who might not otherwise receive an Easter Egg to enjoy this Easter. If you would like to donate an Easter Egg or two, please hand it in at Reception Collection Box by no later than 4th April 2022

Lastly, Evergreen Health has confirmed that they have secured flu vaccines (Vaxigrip Tetra) for this year’s flu vaccinations. It has been arranged that the vaccines will be claimed on behalf of resident from their medical aids - so you will not have to pay, unless it is a private claim and no medical aid exists. The exact cost will be shared once confirmed but it will be in line with the Medical Aid Rate for flu vaccinations. Final numbers must be submitted by latest Monday (21 March 2022). If you have not already confirmed, please contact the EN on duty on Ext.1403;  Nurse Sharon Adams on Ext.1405 or email sharona at evergreenlifestyle.co.za<mailto:sharona at evergreenlifestyle.co.za> if you are interested in receiving the flu vaccination. This will allow us to place our order timeously.
