[Evergreen Diep River] COVID – 19 VACCINATION – VACCINE ROLL- OUT PLAN – PHASE 2

Dear Residents & Family Members,

South Africa commenced with the second phase of its public vaccination campaign on Monday,  17th May 2021. The COVID – 19 vaccine roll out will see the first appointments being opened for those 60 years and older, Healthcare and essential workers (Phase1, plan 1B). The COVID – 19 vaccine process will differ in all 9 provinces; as each province is governed by its own legislature.

WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT’S VACCINE ROLL- OUT PLAN – PHASE 2

Dr Keith Cloete, Head of Department (WC Health) has revealed the 7 vaccination sites in the Western Cape;

•              • Brooklyn Chest Hospital,

•              • Helderberg Hospital,

•              • Mitchells Plain Hospital,

•              • Khayelitsha Hospital,

•              • Karl Bremmer Hospital,

•              • Brackenfell Clinic,

•              • Albow Gardens Clinic.

Additional sites will be added over the next few weeks as the province scales up the vaccination services to those that have registered on the EVDS system.  Health care workers that have not been vaccinated, but registered in Phase 1, will also be included in this roll out.

What to expect once registered for the COVID – 19 vaccine:

•              • SMS confirmation of registration,

•              • SMS appointment date (sent within 14 – 21 days after confirmation),

•              • Vaccination (Dose 1),

•              • An appointment date for the second dose (applies only for a 2-dose vaccine).

GAUTENG GOVERNMENT’S VACCINE ROLL OUT PLAN

Retirement village healthcare staff across Gauteng, including Evergreen Health, have been trained and are now certified COVID – 19 vaccinators.

Evergreen Lifestyle Village admin staff are currently being trained on the EVDS system, so that they are able to assist residents with registration and tracking of confirmation etc. Following an inspection from the Department of Health last week; we, Evergreen Health, have been permitted to proceed with the COVID – 19 vaccinations on site in the Village. The vaccinations will take place in the Broadacres Lifestyle Centre.

Evergreen Health is working extremely hard behind the scenes to lobby the Western Cape Government to deliver vaccines to Evergreen Villages like their Gauteng counterparts, at this moment in time the situation remains fluid, and we will keep on fighting for our residents.

I would like to re-iterate though that should the opportunity arise where a resident gets notification to attend a vaccination, that this must be taken up without fail should that be the choice of the resident. Please do not wait for the vaccine to come to the village.
