<p class="Default">Crime is unfortunately an everyday reality of life in South Africa. So, it makes sense that it consistently ranks among the top concerns for many of us, second only to unemployment and more recently the COVID-19 pandemic.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">Our residents’ physical safety is one of the pillars of our business and we take this extremely seriously. As you know, we take extensive measures and employ different and multiple layers of protection to ensure that our village is secure
at all times. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">With the COVID-19 regulations in mind, we have adapted and redeployed our Grinnell security guards’ presence around the village to practise social distancing thereby keeping, not only our residents, but also our committed security guards
safe from this pandemic, as they are our first line of defence. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="Default" style="margin-bottom:.7pt">- We have guards posted at the entrance of our village 24/7. Our regular site supervisor and one other guard control our entrance during the day as there are very few visitors/contractors visiting our village due
to COVID-19. We also have one half of our main gate closed to restrict movement and this is controlled by the day guards. We do two patrols (mid-morning & mid-afternoon) during the day (which follow our early morning patrol at 6am). Each patrol takes approximately
40 minutes. Each guard has a radio and an alarm button. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default" style="margin-bottom:.7pt">- We have nightly patrols by three guards who rotate on a regular 24-hour basis. We close our main gate at 7pm. Our patrols start at 8pm and continues to 6am when we open our main gate again. Due to social distancing
we have implemented a "relay" patrol and each guard hands over the “baton” to the next guard. Each patrol takes approximately 40 minutes. Each guard has a radio and an alarm button. These measures are of a temporary nature and will be reviewed once we get
back to business as usual. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">- Other security measures include: spotlights on the M3 berm area; electric fences with anti-lift loops all around the village property linked to an off-site alarm monitor centre; “live cameras” linked up on Barn Road and Starke Road; and
armed response provided by BH security who do a nightly to check on the village.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="Default">We believe that security is everyone’s business, not just the responsibility of management and we would like to take this opportunity to remind you to ensure that you have secured yourself in your unit by following simple safety and security
guidelines by ensuring that: <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">- windows and doors are secured and locked at night; <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default" style="margin-bottom:.7pt">- burglar bars and trellidoors or similar security gates are installed for windows and doors that you wish to keep open;
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default" style="margin-bottom:.7pt">- garage doors are closed at night;
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default" style="margin-bottom:.7pt">- valuables are secured in a safe; and
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="Default">- your telecare system is tested on a regular basis. <o:p></o:p></p>
